I've been digging up my old b/w negatives, and this is one of the first things I scanned. Shot this years ago for a photo essay I was supposed to do but never got around to doing. No postwork on this, grain was from cheap Panchromatic 200 LOL... Comments? Violent reactions? (*

My connection is already slow to begin with, and RS is taking 48 years to download. I can't even go through the posts and view pics :-( Then I digress to other things-- I'm wondering which member will be featured next in the news and views section. I'm starting to get sick of Slynky's mug LOL

"years ago" ? It has a lot of feeling. I would get the horizon level as much as possible and carefully lighten the center to add to the focus on the children. What was the essay theme? Bill

This is a great photo. It is a little underexposed but I think it helps make this image a bit more interesting. Great job Shuffler! Andrew

Beautiful photo..! The hat of the girl...the head of the boy...the slightly tilted composition... I liked it a lot... :)

I love the composition of this one. the tilted perspective gives it that through the "childs eyes" feeling. I think the exposure is just a bit dark. Otherwise I really like this one.

Lovely Photo, cute kids...yeah, maybe could be a little bit lighter IMHO, but very atmospheric the way it is...

Wonderful pic - I like the tilt, and while it might be a lil dark, I think that just adds to the contrasts, the kids are more black and white in a grey world. :-)

Like the pic, but gotta admit that tilt is just a tad too severe for my taste.....but that's me.....the subject matter and execution are way cool. (",)

SEVERE!!! What's severe about it. Was this a posed shot or were you the peeping STARS? nice photo. But it looks kinda dark. But that could just be me. Bsteph

Actually I shot this around 6pm, testing the limit of a shallow depth of field and very low shutter speed. I was actually surprised that this image turned up out of the dark. I posted this pic as is, so I'd know what to do with it after the comments. I tried adjusting levels, but it seems I lose a lot of detail when I lighten the pic. billglaw - Yup. Years ago. Those kids have grown up already LOL... this was sometime around '96. bsteph - This actually was a posed shot. I asked them to walk away from me, I didn't give them warning when I would hit the button. Thanks for the comments, everyone! Keep 'em coming :-)

SS, The reference to "years ago", comes from the relative humor associated with my years. When I reference "years ago" it means about 20,30 or 40. My first serious photos were in 1953. I had a 35mm and a 4x5 press camera and did portraits of other GI's and unit operations. I still have the negatives. Bill
