Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
I would like to put in my request for that, too. I've always wishes there was an early style tall ship with sails. Maybe even something like the Mayflower or Columbus's ships. That would be a wonderful addition to the environments for Poser. In some of the fantasy/adventure fiction I write, I've had ship scenes and I like to create art for my resource files so I can visualize them better when describing. I have a notebook with images of my characters and scenes from my stories. It would be highly useful to me. Melanie

Theres a gorgeous one here. And I know Ive seen others like it elsewhere. Ill look around for more in my bookmarks.I can recommend the Spanish site VirtualSite links to. It's excellent, it comes complete with all it's textures.... in spanish.... hmmm.. it takes a little while to sort them all out. Super detail but the guns are the wrong way 'round on one side..? The Merc is pretty remarkable too. I've a little animation on my clean site of the ship sailing through a Poser wave ocean....
Thanks all for the tips and links. I was aware of many of them, but not the ones in the Marketplace. Unfortunately, none of the older ships--save one--are "Poser-ready." They aren't textured or have to be converted and textured. Something I'm not too swift at, with 3ds files, anyway. The best of the bunch, HMS Victory, is like that. I'd buy it in a second if it was Poser-ready. It's beautiful. But I'll probably get the Drakkar instead, which is also good. I'll probably consider the yachts later. Right now I'm after an older ship. I've grabbed the ones at the links you provided...gonna make a try at getting them into Poser. They are free, after all. Cooler, do you have a link to yours? Thanks again everyone.

there's a link... just do a search in poser free stuff. I'd forgotten a couple of other watercraft there too... Bob Sharkey has a power boat & I also have an oriental sampan, gondola, birchbark canoe, rubber raft & outboard motorI think DAZ has a Pirate ship, or something similar. I've been very intrested in old ships, I'd love to do a really acurate old ship, lets say a English 38 gun frigate, cira 1804 or so, which could double as a lot of other things with the gunports closed, with detailing equal to the Civil War gun I put in Freestuff. It would be an intresting project, but it would have to be for sale, and pretty expensive, like $60 or $80. It could be done with one side removable so you could do inteterior shots as well as exterior, maybe just guns on one side below decks (to keep the file size down). Each gun could run out and elevate, the sales could go up and down, and it could tack, it would be fun to do! But would anybody buy it? So little time, so much to do!

I don't know if the thread is being read, but here is what the san juan looks like from poser. This is a 3dsm model with textures included. There is a funky little thing with the portside cannon being pointed the wrong way, but hey it's free. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. We have Swashbucklers, Vikings, Adventurers, even pirates and sailors (I think). But they're all land-locked! The only ships we have are space ships. To the best of my knowledge, there are no detailed sailing ships with decks, cabins, etc. How about an old Spanish galleon? Or a 17th century tall ship? I'd love a model of John Paul Jones' ship (I know the name but am not sure how to spell it). Or how about a modern yacht? I'd love to put Vicky and Mike on the deck and import into a romantic port scene in Vue. The deck would be the only part needed. Modelers and scene builders, please consider this: we have "construction" sets for log cabins, outposts, cities, houses, etc. Why not the deck of a ship? ANY ship. But, alas and alak, we have no sea-faring ships. Or have I missed something? If anyone knows of one, please advise. Thank you.
