Subject: Renderosity Speed Question ? ? ?

'Afternoon all, 8^) This may not be a proper question to ask on this area of Renderosity, but the "Vue d'Esprit" Forum is the only area I visit, so: Has anybody else been having problems accessing the Renderosity site? For quite a while now, I've been having a terrible time trying to access this forum or, ANYWHERE on the Renderosity site, it takes forever & ever to try to get a page to come up & sometimes my browser just times out before the page is accessed. I realize that I don't post very much on this forum, but I try to visit every day, so as to get as much information on Vue 4 as possible, from all the very experienced users on this site. And also, to view all the wonderful images created by the accomplished users of view. ;^) At times I just quit trying & go somewhere else on the internet. I going to assume that if others are having the same long delayed times trying to access a forum or even the main Renderosity site, that they will soon just quit trying, & in turn Renderosity will see the usage go down. I'm only on a dial-up 56K connection & things are slow enough as they are, but Renderosity is the only site on the internet, out of the very many sites that I visit, that is this slow to respond. 8^( Anyway, I do apologize for posting this question on this forum, but as I stated earlier, this forum is the only place on Renderosity that I care to visit. So, if anybody here has any connections with someone at Renderosity, maybe you could try to find out, what seems to be the problem??? Thanks in advance for allowing me to ask a question, not pertaining to Vue on your forum, & hopefully someone can solve this time delay problem??? All of you have a very good afternoon . . . Mark. 8^)

Hello Mark,

I have exactly the same problem ! Sometimes I have to wait ages to open a page at renderosity. I'm also on dial-up, but still, it's way too slow. I don't even go to the galleries anymore, tired of waiting...

My guess is that the site is getting overcrowded and it can't cope anymore with this huge data traffic... a little upgrade would be necessary (rendorisity v.02, 40% faster rendering).

Yeah. Yesterday on my last trip to the galleries, Renderosity was so slow that I just gave up while waiting for the thumbnails to load. Charles

Hi Mark, Eric, and Charles. :) First, it's not just you, believe me. I have a cable modem, and it's every bit as slow at times for me, too. The problem is, the membership at the site is growing very quickly, and the server hardware is having trouble keeping up with all the page requests. And then there are those with the mass-downloading software who seek to capture all the gallery entries in one shot. Fortunately, there is software in place to stop that, but when it starts, it still is a problem. They (Edgenet/Bondware) have been putting new server hardware in place, in an attempt to speed it all up, but optimally configuring it has been a problem, but as I aid, it's being worked on, and soon, it will be better. This is a subject which comes up fairly often within the forums of those of us who work for Renderosity, and I can assure you that it is a problem which is constantly being worked on. But, it will eventually be worked out. If AOL can do it, so can Renderosity. :) I can also say that we understand your frustration. We have to deal with it too! We all feel bad about the server problems, but rest assured atyhat the PTB will not rest until it's fixed, and probably won't rest even after that. :) But, please hang in there, and continue to visit us throughout our "growing pains" (Jeez, talk about cliche'd, eh?!). It is our members which make this site as cool as it is, so without you, we're gone. And, no need for apologies about bringing this up. People want to know, and need to know, so it's cool. Just stick around for the next version of Renderosity, please. :)

'Evening all, Thanks for your responses Eric, Charles & MikeJ, I was seriously beginning to think maybe it was my ISP. Anyway, now I don't feel so alone in this lack of speed issue. Hahaha. 8^) And thanks to you MikeJ, for your in-depth explanation of what is & isn't going on for now. I'll still be lurking around this forum, it seems like the only place where I can enjoy so much from Vue users. Have a good one, all of you . . . Mark. ;^)

I'm on dial-up too, and actually you should be noticing some improvement today, maybe even yesterday. A new server was just added this weekend to help balance the load. More details at the thread linked here. :)

Yes, I said it already. Since about last Christmas, if ever I can connect to Renderosity it takes time, but mostly I get error messages and cannot connect at all. Guitta

Hi, I never had problems to access renderosity, but I should admit that I come here only between 13hGMT and 21h GMT. :) Yves
