cosmo.jpg (sorry about the image quality..) I finally bought the Cosmo Virtual Makeover CD, just to see if it was as good as some people made it look. It was five bucks at the http://www.talkcity.com store. (I don't think any are left) I'll have to admit that it's a lot of fun... but there are a lot of problems with it as well. But I won't dwell on the bad stuff unless anyone is interested. Not only can you give your Posette cool hair, but you can change her eye color, makeup, and skin color. The 4 pics above are the same model (with a tlaubach texture of course :) Unfortunately you are limited to the one face front pose...(oops... forgot I wasn't going to talk about the bad stuff) If anyone is interesed I think that http://www.virtualmakeover.com offers a free demo version of the CD. Kristyn I've got the cosmo cd too but haven't experimented with the makeup. Is there a way to export the picture from within the makeover program? Because it would surely be better than creating texture maps for a different look.

wow Kristyn... those images are really cool! :) I dig the one in the upper left hand corner.. I think that character is really great too.. she looks really believable.

You can't export the picture into any ordinary format. It saves the image in a format that's exclusive to Cosmo. I never use the program, just the hair stright off the CD. Otherwise, all you get is head and shoulders view and you can't use it on poses. In fact, the program took up extra space in my computer so I uninstalled it. Since the hair and other things like glasses are accessible right off the CD and can be copied onto your finished render via Photoshop or another layering paint program, it's even better. I just had a brainstorm! Maybe I'll have to put a tutorial on my web site for copying the hair onto a finished render. It might take me a while to complete it, though. Melanie

Before all this Cosmo Virtual Makeover rage I use to go to a free virtual makeover place on the web (Emakeover) that use to do it online for you.. I would up load images of poser girls and guys just for fun, a gag ...http://www.emakeover.com/ <<I guess that is still the address.. It was just for fun and the pictures that were saved were small and I thought really useless... I debated buying the Cosmo CD..I didn't want just close ups and head shots and besides I think at the time it was around 40+ bucks... It wasn't until Poser 4 came out with the transparency option and I started seeing What Paul Hafeli and DigitalWoman were doing that I decided to hunker down the cash ... Your right Kristyn it is limited .. If I were a programer or something I could see profit in creating a program that generated real hair for Poser models (3D at any size).. Wow, I think someone could make some money here... I have The old Cosmo in the pink box.. The latest one Cosmo Delux and IStyle ... Istyle does have 3D models on the CD but not in any format that I can read but in Istyle.. I know the salesman at the CompUSA must think I'm awfully vain for I have bought three in the last year... Sheesh I haven't even tried it on myself yet.. Even though I probably need to..hehe ~Cindy

I'll be uploading a tutorial on my web site in about an hour or so. It's not uploaded yet, so give me time to put it up first. You can check there for how to apply the hair outside of the Makeover programs. I use Photoshop to do it, but any program that uses layers will probably work. You can put the hair on your full length images and not just the head and shoulders. The wigs in Makeover are in tga format, but Photoshop can read those. You can find it at: http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Atrium/8165 Just click on the tutorial button and it'll take you there. You'll have to scroll down to find it after the texture map tutorial. I did use a close up of a head, however, with this technique, you can size the hair and put it on any full length figure in Photoshop, so long as the head is facing straight forward. Have fun, Melanie

Wow thanks Melanie, with all the interest in this I think there needs to be a tutorial on it... I don't do it much and I still have my problems with masking and such (hate that) but would like to know more.. I'll look for your tutorial...

wow Melanie... thanks! :) (btw..my sisters name is melani (without the e)) Kalypso I just did a screen capture and pasted into photoshop. (no post work) I loved playing around with CD, but got bored with it after not being able to do more with it... thanks Tim! actually, I created her completely by accident. I was playing around with the face morphs on the Nene character and voila. I call her Fionna cause she looks a lot like my friend of the same name :) Kristyn

Hi, everyone! The tutorial is now up. I hope it helps with the Cosmo hair. I use it all the time and there are so many styles on the CD to choose from. If I left anything out or a step doesn't make sense, let me know and I I'll try to clarify it for you. Go to it, and have fun. Melanie
