neat...can you guys please explain to me...since it came up...if I am getting a new computer... I will have to reinstall POSER and all my other programs...how do I save all of the stuff I have now so I can install it into the new computer's Poser? Do I just copy all the folders onto a cd? If I do that, won't I also get redundant folders (ie, folders that are standard and come with Poser)? So, I should only copy the folders of the custom stuff onto the cd, right...? If one uses this app...can one pack everything not standard into this app first and then copy THAT onto the cd? Then will this app unpack everything into it's proper place? Sorry if this is unclear...I too am computer challenged! :)
Just as a time saver, about two years ago I popped for a 40 Gb drive and made it my Poser bitch. It's about half full of Poser stuff now (and due for a backup...), but the nice thing is that when I move to a new machine, all I have to do is install the drive and reinstall Poser and the patches. None of the objects or other goodies have to have registry entries, just the Poser engine itself. As a bonus, if you take part in the time-honored tradition of formatting your boot drive and reinstalling Windows every six months, it doesn't affect your Poser files.
sounds great. I am waiting for a new hd to be installed, and backed up my runtime ready, didn't even think of zipping it and it took ages and 8 or 9 cds. that's without textures that are not in runtime. Never thought of zipping it. will remember that next time. I too am a great believer in a format every so often. that's why I will not ghost my drive for this changeover.

Looks like a great app except I am stuborn and prefer to do my maintance and file management "manually" -> but then being 'techie' and not really an "artist" that is just my nature.......what I would REALLY like to find is an app that will "strip the unused MTs from a charater(cr2) or PZ3 file"!! (especially where Mike2 and Eve4 are concerned...soon I'll be restling with Vicky2 as well!)
"what I would REALLY like to find is an app that will "strip the unused MTs from a charater(cr2) or PZ3 file"!! (especially where Mike2 and Eve4 are concerned...soon I'll be restling with Vicky2 as well!)" MorphManager (among others). Most I've seen can only delete one morph at a time, but I've used it just for that.

You can already do this with PInstall and alot more. See the attached link.PInstall is a standalone application which allows you to install poser library objects (characters, poses, textures, etc) without needing to figure out which files go in which Poser subdirectory--PInstall does it for you. You don't even have to unzip library files stored in zip archives. Also, you can use PInstall to unzip and install a variable number of archives automatically!
