I think (just my opinion) that the pic of the hand seems technically quite good...but it is (and I know this may sound silly) too disembodied (no pun intended)...too perfect and removed from any context...does that make any sense? Good luck with the experimentation, there's still almost half the month left!
I didn't think the contrast was too high. she seems to have young looking hands. the ring seems to fit so it's not distracting. Have you played with the posing of the hands. I see nothing wrong with the background. Or lack thereof. Um for something different try different lighting. Highlight the knuckles only ( If possible )ect. Bsteph
i dunno, i liked the "Thing" effect, lol. Brought back memories of the old series (new one blew, ick). Me thinks the pose is ok as well. If you were to reshoot, I'd say the pose is fine, but if I had utter beyond total control, I'd set up a light (could be a simple lamp) in a spot so that the finger nails catch the light's reflection. Just my thought -putz thought in pocket maybe for later- I just had a cool idea me thinks. I'm gonna work on something tomorrow for the contest, and it's gonna be some scanography, lol. Bringing the Wacom over to the woman's house, so we'll see what I come up with I guess... best of luck to all.
