Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 15 11:01 am)
;)) thgeisel, I was probably thinking to the umlautes when I wrote this. But I suppose this is above all what is called a free feature. As I told you I recently had a new machine with W2K were I'll be able to test and fix the bug. This is an extraordinary well designed machine for Poser: 1 Go proc, 500 Mo Ram, 64 Mo Radeon 3D card. With my comparatively slow 233 proc, 140 Ram, W98 PC I ahve both a fast and a slow machine to test P3dO and at last enough to play with Vicky.

I also understand your policy. No need for apology. P3do is one of those indispensible tools that will always have a spot on my system, regardless of cost. It has amazed me that it was free for so long. I'm sure the sentiment is shared by all it's users. Thank you for a wonderful tool and keep up the good work, dying to see the improvements in the future. Jbear
Jbear, thank you for your words. I'm sure now that I can achieve better job with a shareware and that's the reason why I decided to sell it. Please, don't die but in fact I'm sure that should you know what I have in mind you would ;)) thgeisel, the bug comes from the fact that XP and W2k now use Unicode fonts when W98 has Ansi font - and I run W98. There's a simple solution : recompile P3dO under W2K. This will be the first step - in february - but then there will be 2 P3dO's. Then fix the bug. I'll probably play a lot with my computer. I watched my first DivX film last month and found it marvelous.

Nikitacreed ;)) Sure it'll help, I made a deal with my day company. They sale the product for me - In France you can't sell as an individual or have to pay huge taxes ;(( - my day company will just take a reasonnable fee. With this money I can buy time to work on Poser projects, take a lot of fun and add a lot of goodies. What my day company gain in this deal is that they expect me to stay working for them ;))

I just recently rediscovered this program. The best thing I found today was the png to rsr converter. I had a lot of Schlabber Poses that were done with Poser Pro. I could have applied each pose, and save them back to the library to get the rsr's. That would be a terrible pain. Instead I used the png to rsr plugin, and the work was done quickly!
Xurge, Thank you for your support ;)) Ron, I expect you will appreciate more P3dO features in the future (I don't mean paying ones). I can tell you Schlabber was happy with that feature too. I was amazed with the Rsr2Png converter success. I just made this plugin from a request by Cameron in October. Say a big thank to Cameron and don't hesitate to submit your requests in the future. Nearly half of P3dO improvements went this way. Zip Explorer is clearly one of the features I want to work on a lot - and I need time to. Zip Explorer is the bulk for reading PPP compressed files, displaying other pictures than just .RSR and much more. I should also add a gauge and a cancel button, put it in a thread. You see Zip Explorer is clearly what I need time for and ... the open door for selling P3dO outside the Poser community.

I agree. UVMapper and P3dO Explorer are must-haves for the serious Poser user's toolkit. Having just purchased Michael, I'm out of coin at the moment, but will be happy to pay for the next version in March (or whenever) to support further development. I haven't seen you mention this elsewhere in the thread; do you have a price in mind yet?
I think your rationale for migrating from free to marketplace is very sound. I wish you all the best in the transition. If you are taking suggestions for features that will enhance your marketability, I would propose that you figure out a way to make it cross-platform. There are a lot of Mac users here in the Poser community. -JimX
Hi All, Thank so much for your support this makes me fell so happy. You know working on Poser utility stuff is really a dream come true. Little Dragon, the price will be 25 Euros (about 22$ but with conversion costs probably 25$). Sams3D, play with P3dO a lot and tell me what you would like to be added. JimX, You're right. I am thinking to Mac P3dO that's one of the reason why I need time. This is another challenge but a must for a pro Poser utility.

I am among the others who will surely buy this product when you offer it for sale. You have been so generous to offer it for free this long, and I can understand why that needs to change. And here is my suggestion: A batch extension changer. Most of us know that the .pz2 files are really all the same as the .cm2 and the other files. I am sure I am not the only on who likes to move them around to make my libraries cleaner. (I think I read that someone else does what I do and makes their MAT files all .cm2's. Just thought it would be nice be be able to convert a whole folder at once. Anyway, good luck on your commercial venture. I am sure you will gain plenty of more support in this community. Angela
RealityPoison, I won't thank you for your suggestion I'll do more ;)) I was probably the only one not aware of this. I never studied the .CM2 format and didn't knew it. But such an extension changer is quite easy to do. No more than an hour to do the plugin. I'll release the plugin with 1.5.3. We could call it: Pat the renamer for "pattern renamer". I have other plans for a batch renamer but this will be enough for a first go. More seriously let's call it Paty.c3d. Have another idea for the name ?

Yarp and I have been investigating, and trying to come up with an answer why this program won't see my zipped folders. It appears this is caused by the fact that Windows XP now views zipped files as folders. You can even run programs from within zipped files/folders. I don't claim to understand all that stuff, but apparently P3DO explorer won't even recognize zip folders. Personally I never trusted the windows version of any utility. I've used Powerdesk Utilities as my file manager for years. Powerdesk handles zip folders/files just fine. I just wanted to alert you in case you have Windows XP. P3Do's zip plugin/utility won't work. Now that you know, you won't waste precious time trying to figure what is wrong. Yarp and I've been working on this during the entire day so far, and finally got the apparent answer.

Hi Renderotics, This is a sad new for me and for you I can imagine. P3dO 1.5.3 will soon ship out at SENO. Unfortunately this is the last free P3dO release. The decision was hard to take. Should I let P3dO constantly free and make another shareware ? But I experienced it is very hard to work seriously on 2 projects - and I still have my day job. I love working on P3dO and have enough ideas to make goodies will a full 2 years work. Same work would take 10 years with a freeware and meanwhile Poser would be 7th or 8th release further. Also I work nearly 3/4 of my leisure time this is a very tiring rythm. As a consequence I'm sorry to announce those willing to pay will be able to starting with P3dO 1.6 (march). The money will be used to enhance P3dO to what I expect to be a real hit. I don't expect to earn money with the Poser community but to use that money to sell P3dO as an image browser - outside the community. I said those willing to pay ! SENO - me - have a fair policy. P3dO won't be locked after a trial period and you won't get less features than you have today. Just that registered users will have what I expect to be really time saving features, other will have helpers features a little bit less efficient (like today). 3D view, Bryce support and what I call indispensible features have always been and will stay a must - they will stay free. Some people are definitely against paying anything more than Poser. I fully respect their opinion but I'm sure other prefer paying to get better quality products and I prefer so much working on P3dO than my day job ;)) I prefer animating my Posette on a viewport than fighting against silly bugs on an old fashioned Unix system. This is an evidence. The price will be a quite affordable fair price. You all know what I'm able to. Help me finish the P3dO project. I have 2 other tremendous - I really mean it - projects around Poser but I need full time working to achieve them. Thank for your understanding and a tiny sorry, YarpYarp - author of P3DO Organizer for Poser
