Subject: Anyone have any great scripts laying around?

I've been doing lots of shorts and that sort of thing for a while now. I'm really looking to do a longer short-film length animation. I've got some ideas for an original story that is all my own, but I have discovered that there is a distinction between writing good dialogue, and "acting dialogue." Something that can sound so good in a story or book, can sound sooo tacky when people are actually asked to act it out (either in voice, or on stage). Anyway, this has lead me to shelve my writing talents temporarily, and begin searching for a good script that may already exist. Anyone have any ideas? I'm secretly hoping that someone out there might have something that they'd love to do, but you may just not have the time. I'm open to genre, and ready to work with anyone who might be interested. Thanks

Been there, found out. After surfing a bunch of short story sites on Google I found exactly what I wanted. Licensing problems were overcome, I sketched out a story board and I thought I was off and running. Then I found, as you did, narrative and dialog are different. I decided I really wanted a short screenplay. Somewhere I ran across Dan Decker's site. He teaches screenplay writing. A visit to www.screenwritersgroup.com was be enlightening (I'd recommend his book "Anatomyof a Screenplay" - no commencial connection. The result, I think I saw what I was doing wrong and got back on track. Best of luck. George

That's cool. What's the story about? I might be interested.
