Okay, be honest. How many of you have used Poser to create a digital version of yourself? I certainly have. Here is a side by side comparison of me and my poser doppleganger (Vicky 2). It's not a perfect match (the lighting is off on the poser me and that doesn't help) but it seems to be close enough that most of my friends can recognize me unprompted. So who else has done this? I wasn't able to get a good resemblense until Vicky 2 came out (and I am indebted to William the Bloody for his MMV2 model which out which I could not have come anywhere near this close.) The nose does not look quite right from this angle but straight on it looks just like mine.

I once tried to map my own face on a texture, waaay back when before Mike. The results were mixed. You've done quite well here. The nose is the only thing I see that's not right. Come back to it every so often and tweak tweak tweak and eventually you'll get yourself dead-on. It took me over a year to get Buffy right (and over 3 released versions, with the final not yet released.) Nice to see MMV2 is being used :D -WTB

I've never tried to make a texture from my face but, hey, are you married? I have had the nose problem, though. When trying to map a girl's face, I got the nose perfect for straight-on views but couldn't get it to look right at angles. I still haven't figured it out. If you do, please let me know.

In all honesty, I've never tried it. I am working on an Arnold Schwarzenegger doppleganger, however. That is an amazing likeness. Tilting the nose up a bit would make it a closer match. And you could pull the chin in a few millimetres. But I should stop nitpicking now, and go do something productive ... (Even if I wanted to try, bloodsong's Adult Hatchling doesn't have enough morphs) :)

egads not a chance no way...I wouldn't inflict that on you good folks! That's a great likeness Daio. Nice photo for it too :)

Havent tried me yet, but I sure have worked on Mona Lisa and Queen Elizabeth 1st. :) Less intimidating, I guess... :) Britt

Daio, which one is which? Wow, you are one beautiful woman. Ouch, my wife just hit me.

I think I'm related to you... no REALLY you look JUST like my cousin... I've never been mean enough to myself to try to make a poser person look like me... it would be very bad... I would end up needing years of therapy I'm sure... but your attempt is really well done. The lips are damn near perfect... the only thing that I can see that to me doesn't match exactly, and it could just be from the camera angle... your chin seems a little narrower than your V2self. :)

Have tried it .. Even have a Dork and Michael version sort of ... Had to do sort of a theraputic self portrait ... Never finished either of them perfectly. Here is my Michael Self Portrait from last year LOL

Wow, great picture and good likeness! I haven't made a poser version of myself, but I have to admit that one of the first things I did with Michael 2 was to play with the Z scale of his legs and torso and the x scale of his arms until his proportions began to match mine. I am six feet, five and a half inches tall. Jay

Fortunately, I already look exactly like the default poser dork, so I don't need to do anything special. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to comb through my solid, plasticky one-piece hair. --

Gee, I could make a Poser version of myself. Well I did, almost. Marlin is my "alter ego," in comic strip form, now slowly making his way into the Poser world. Marlin is a bit slimmer than me, has darker hair, and more teeth. Oh, Marlin is single.

Your nose is slightly more impish, and your expression far more intelligent. I was alway under the impression that Daio was a guy, but now I'm not so sure ;o) Great work, mylady.

Nice job! I wouldn't want to do myself as I am far too ugly and can't stand to look at myself, however I would like to try and do some of my family members. Are there any tuts for this?

Great Job, I tried once, but got scared from the results. Sharen

It's intersting how the 3/4 angle seems to be the hardest to get perfect. From the front and the side I see very litle difference between me and my Poser doppleganger but from 3/4 I see definite problems with the nose and chin. I'm also wonder inf part of the problem with the abouve comparison might not a due to different camera focal lengths and lighting. I'm not sure what focal length the photo was taken at - it was taken by a friend of the family who ided last year. The poser render was done at a focal length of 95. THe lighting in the photo was coming much more from above than the lighting in the render. hmmm....

Try it at a focal lengt of 35...that might make a difference...the pic was done with a 35mm camera wasn't it?

scifiguy ( ) posted Wed, 23 January 2002 at 3:22 PM

ummm...that refers to the size of the film, not the focal length cromwell. 28-70mm is a common range for SLR lenses...over 70mm is a pretty big lens. My digital is 35-70. I believe fixed sized cameras are around 50mm. Maybe try a render at 70 and see how that looks.
