Lots of good things happening today: First, my hard drive arrived. It's an external 40GB Firewire drive that my wife ordered for me as a present... I can plug it into my laptop, my desktop, or anything with a 1394 Firewire card in it. Now I can finally have a portable place to park all the poser stuff, my mp3's (beats scratching-up the rather irreplaceable CD's I ripped them from), and all my FPS modelling and mapping stuff (which weighs in at around 5GB all by itself :) Second - I finally managed to get home so I could go grab Dark Whisper's Nicole Mega Beach pak... the proxy at work defys me to use port 443, so no-go on secure purchases from work :/ I just got done with the download, and am about to unpack her now. And later, I'll be ordering my favorite food of all - PIZZA! (no worries there - I weigh in at 150lb and 6' tall... though I fully expect my heart to implode from the cholesterol load one of these days - heh.) Anyrate, it's off to the desktop - Cheers! /P

Firewire rules. It's like USB on steroids. I'm looking forward to the new high-speed USB 2.0 standard. Domino's or Pizza Hut?

OK, friend, I'm twice the man you are, at least in weight. (300 pounds). I'm about your height though. Hey, pizza is my favorite food. That hard drive, would it be one of those beautiful looking Maxtor drives I've seen in the computer magazines?!

Hehehe - The wife just got home this morning (I'm married to a nurse who works nights alot), so playing w/ 3D art keeps me out of trouble when she's off to work. :) BTW - it was Papa John's, and I feel way bloated (but in a good way) this morning :) The external drive took some work, but it's up now - had to format it into two 20GB NTFS partitions before Win2k would let me play with it. It operates just as efficiently as an internal drive; here's where and what I bought (item) and (item image). The only problem I had was in finding a 6-to-4 pin cable adapter (Dell has built-in 1394 firewire on their laptops now, but it's the tiny 4-pin port.); found that after checking around locally for an hour; came home from work, plugged it all in, and it worked great after fixing the pre-loaded partitioning. BTW - Someone tell Dark Whisper that Nicole and her accessories are well worth the $30.00 asking price - everything is very professionally done, and works quite well; I think I'll just have to cough up a beach house for her once I get the Atrium roof done :) /P

This hard drive has no brand name?! I'm a bit surpised at that. At least it seems to work ok?
