THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: The ultimate brycepage

Hi all, Im thinking of creating an ultimate brycepage. Im telling this because Id like to now first if there would be some interest in such a page. Let me start with the parts that Ive thought off: The main idea wouldnt be to original, creating a linklist of all kinds of stuff. Tutorials: -> Linklist with catachorised tutorials: including a rating system from helpful to not helpful at all. Also a catechory like the ones on renderosity. The rating should happen by visitors, so that will change regularly and visitors could see what the best quality tutorials are. Second I would build an add tutorial link on the page and could build a regular check for dead links. Id write them all to a database that makes the page easy to handle and update and ASP-code would make the functions. The strong point is that broken links could be overcome and visitors can see what the best tuts are according to the main brycer. Homepages-> Same idea a list of pages, a description and a rating. Most interesting pages on the web could be made into a top (3,5,10 depends on the amount of pages that are included.) Also add a page would be possible. Gallerys -> Add an image, rate images just like on renderosity. This might be left out, since it already exist, but on the other hand, if all brycers would visit the page I think that they might want all possibilitys in one, a real ultimate Bryce-page. Contest-> Im also a teragen-user and they have a great community. On of the strong point is a contest (http://www.timster.net/terracon) that sets a subject every month, so you can create an image of that subject and submit, also voting is included so that every month there is a gallery that can be voted on, a subject to create and the results of the last contest. I havent found something alike on renderosity although they have contests. Weak point would of course be that there have to be a minimum of entries and there is no price (Yet). FAQ-> A FAQ would also be really handy I think, maybe this one can be created of all questions on the mailinglist + the possibility to add a question to the page. I could ask the better artists (Hobbit, pixalator on renderosity) To help some with answering questions. Also the mailinglist is a great way to get the answers. Ok these are just a few ideas. I just have thought of it awhile but would love to hear ideas from you people. If there is enough interest in the page and it really starts rolling then I would pay for a domain-name. Of-course I would start with a free trial to find out if it really would start running. The success of the page would be so much dependant of the voting and adding and regular visiting of you brycers, so I must really now if there is enough interest. I would be very happy to hear from you, If you like the idea, if you got new ideas, thoughts of improvement or thought like: a contest would never be a success, or there is already one. Please dont hesitate to mail me with everything you want or got. If it appears there is enough interest I would have a lot of free time to build it since I can do it as a project for school. (Im learning to be a programmer ) I really could work on it for a month and build a nice looking, easy to handle and update page, using ASP and a MySQL-database. One weak point however, I could use someone to check my spelling, grammar and sentence-structure, since Im not English from origin. You can mail me at j_klapwijk@hotmail.com or j_k_3d@hotmail.com, Im online every-day for a couple of hours so reaction will mostly be provided within 24 hours. Regards and looking forward for reaction, Johannes

Sorry, I forgot some stuff. I would like to add a section about related software: Links to main poser pages, tuts on texturing and postwork in Photoshop, other 3d-moddeling programs and that kind of stuff. This would also add great value since Bryce is not really a stand-alone application. Second would be a link section with links to official homepages of all the related stuff and important pages like renderosity. Regards, johannes

Just to let you know there are already 2 site's that do this with 1000's of visitors a month, so if traffic is what you are after, I would go for a specific niche.. Those sites are: www.brycetech.com and www.fignations.com They are 2 of the best and since Bryce is so widely used now, there are already a zillion sites for resources. I would either 1. Stick to your own created resources or 2. forget about it, and focus directly on your own artwork. Just my opinion, what ever you decide best of luck.

There is another site that has Bryce tutorials, downloads and links that gets 10,000's of visitors a month. Even has a list of Bryce 5 tips. :)

This is true, But what I thought is that those pages (excluding brycetech) are eather to large or not easy to use. They got a lot of scetions and also a lot of broken links (I'm thinking of bryce gronicals and stuff) The power of my site would be that it's bryce only (just a couple of links to similar pages of poser, photoshop etc.) And I've read a lot about making a page usable, webdesigning for the visitors and stuff. Anyway, maybe I'm the too maniest clone with just a little deverent idea. Thanks for replies, although they are not really hopefull for me.

By the way, I didn't hear anything of the contest idea. I would like to now if there is one already since I couldn't find one. If there's not, would there be interest?
