Subject: Help!!! I need a film reel Prop

I'm working on a student project and am in need of a film reel prop. Can anyone help me???

img attached. I can mail it as an .obj (minus UV Maps - haven't rigged one yet) or .dxf file, or I can ( and prolly will) post it on the website and put it in Free Stuff - up to you. /P

Sounds like you needed a real reel prop, but depending on what you are doing, here's an image that might be used as a reference or rearranged as a map for the model Penguinisto is building, or just for a cylinder. Problem is I (uncharacteristically) don't recall the source. Anyone recognize it? File was dated last July.

not offhand... I'll see if I can incorporate the image into the prop, though - to make it more realistic. (heh - I was relying on memories of elementary school reels when I whipped up mine :) /P

I have one thats not textured so i just colored it to match Nances....it may be a bit thick (film wise) so if you want it let me know and also if it needs thinning.....Steve

I'd go with Steve's... Mine took only 10 mintues to whip up (I stuck it in free stuff after the mail bounced.) Steve - if it's an .obj file, he can x-scale it in no prob :) /P

AC3D in Linux - the same modeller I used for the Atrium, Vaulted Roof, and Bathtub (all 3 are in Free Stuff as well.) /P

I use cinema 4d xl v7 this was a disc put in hypernurbs deleted a few polygons to get the general shape then extruded a little, then grabbed the detail areas and extruded a little more.its from www.maxon.net Steve

heh - beat me to it :) Yeah - that's the beast. Their free version won't export to anything useful, but is otherwise fully functional. It's $40 for the full version, and it only takes up about 4MB on my hard drive. /P

Been here since day one and this place still continues to amaze me. A new kid from California, that no one had ever heard from 3 weeks ago, pops in and asks for some help and gets quick replies from Utah, Texas and the UK. He walks out with just what he needs, and all the rest of us end up with some cool new toys. If only the real world worked this neighborly. ...Hell, if even my neighborhood was this neighborly!

I agree with you Nance, everyone here has been so willing to help me. I am very greatful to everyone. As soon as I finish the project I will be sure to post in the gallery. I will definately appreciate comments on it when it's done. Again, thanks to everyone.
