ok i am kind of new to poser and i just have a few questions. one, where can i get the Vicky model from? do i have to buy it or can i just download it. two, is vicky modle the best to use as in the most clothing and such for her to get?

Welcome! I was a newby myself just a few monthes ago. Vicky is definitely a for sale item (and if you ask for her for free some people might suspect you of piracy, so don't). You can get her from DAZ, I attached a link. In my opinion, Victoria is the best female model available for Poser (though there are some other good ones). Check out all the morphs available for her at the DAZ website. And yes, there are tons and tons of clothes available for her, both at this site in the Marketplace and at DAZ. Hope this helps! Jay

You might want to invest some time of your own doing some research before asking questions. For example, I started a thread listing the major characters in the Poser World. That includes Michael and Victoria. If you skim through the message titles in this forum, you can see that your questions are already answered. You can also click on the Poser Forum FAQ link that is right above where you posted your question. Ron

Maybe answering a question is much better than giving advices like do a search on the forum especially when it's a newbie. This does not sound very friendly. Some people have to pay per minute for their internet connection and won't have the time to stumble through the entire forum so posting a question and getting an email notice that their question is answered saves them time and money. Maybe someone new to Renderosity and new to the forum does not know that a search for topics can be done.

Not wanting to sound harsh or anything, so please don't interpret it that way...a link was posted on where to buy Vicky (and a gently worded note of caution). As to the second question(s), I think ron's advice was right on target. A lot of people have a lot of thoughts about which model is the best. I think I would agree that Vicky is the best female model, but I only gave a short look to Dina...a fair piece of competition. And the remark about tons of clothing is kind of misleading, IMHO. To sum up my clothing thoughts, the P4 figures have the most free clothing of all. While there ARE a lot of clothes for Vicky, most of the freebies, I think, are textures and trans and such (I am a newbie, too, so plz pardon me if I am wrong) for purchased sets. So, IF this person is paying for his connection by the minute, he may well be served by browsing around himself to see just what is available for each. Of course, if the P4 figure doesn't have enough detail and morphs, then it's just a matter of looking at Vicky's competion in her class. One thing is for sure, before I plopped down $60 for Vicky and (perhaps) some more for textures either at DAZ or other merchant, I wouldn't mind spending a little extra money being sure...and the best way to do that is to do just what ron suggested...scroll through this forum and click on the thread headings that seem to address his questions. He also needs to look at a lot of pics in the gallery and/or marketplace to help his decision. In other words, to make the best decision, look around for a lot of opinions. I'm sure we welcome deadman to the community and I hope he doesn't feel like ron didn't help as much as he should. Ronknights spends a lot of time trying to help. And when he makes his choice, and comes back for more help, we'll be here for him...just like plenty of people helped me when I asked questions.

Puntomaus, maybe you are new to the Internet, Renderosity, and forums? Check out my web site. You'll see I spent lots of time making helpful tutorials. I've also started many helpful threads in this Poser forum that answer those questions. Others have also done so. Are you familiar with lists of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)?! These resources are there to answer questions that are asked frequently. I have been known to spend most of my day either in this forum, or working on my artwork. I then turn my artwork into a commercial for the artists who made the materials and characters I use. I don't have so much time these days because I've volunteered to help a good friend get to work. He's blind, and can't drive a car himself. You talk about people who might pay by the minute wasting precious time doing research? The people who answer the same questions over and over are also spending their own precious time. So let's do some elementary research, then ask questions. Let's not spend all our time answering the same questions over and over. Ron

Chuck, you did not sound harsh :-).

Ron, I am not new to the internet and I am not new to Renderosity or the forum. See, I just felt that it sounded not very friendly at the first look and that was all I said. I know that you post a lot in the forum and try to help. But I remember that there was a thread not long ago about posting links in a message and some other people felt the same about read this or do a search before. You don't need to feel affected I just wanted to let you know how your suggestions could be misinterpreted and make someone feel uncomfortable asking questions.

And about Vicky: she is really a good purchase that I did not regret. She has so much more morphs than Posette that you can turn her in most every character you can imagine. But to get her dressed you need to purchase her clothing pack too.

I really do think people should make at least an effort to help themselves before they come to the community for help. Maybe people need to be made aware of the wealth of information that is sitting there for the taking. I also had a crappy day. I drove a friend home from work in what turns out to be the worst storm of the year. I almost hit a telephone pole for my efforts. I live in Maine. I want to move back to Florida where there is no snow. Ron

Well, I think deadman got some good information to start with and I'm glad everyone in this thread seems to have cleared up any misunderstanding without some sort of (ex-) C&D Forum "yelling" (grin).
