"If this had been posted to C&D. You would have seen a lot more colorful words than "piss" get thrown around." Like the word "fuck"? Thank God, no one has said THAT word here in this thread, have they? Not like those C&D barbarians...

Too bad there isn't an automatic spell check on the post reply board for the words "rhetoric" and "rhetorical." ;-) Maybe there is, and geep originally spelled the word "pizz"??

big grin I once knew a forum that did not like a certain 11 letter word to be mentioned, and they created a filter or somthing that would turn it into *, (or was it R, I forget). The little stars saved their delicate senses from that most terrible word. If the admin here did this, then those who are offended by written words could send the PTB a list of words that offend their eyes! Of course, when compiling said lists, we would have to make sure the PTB understood that this was a list of terrible things that offend our eyes, and not cursing at them! :-) pam (and just for the sake of those who do not get it, I am kidding :oP )

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I REALLY do not like hypocrites and hypocracy. If your work is so foul that you are more at home in the erotic forums, then complaining about a very mild word strikes me as extremely self-serving. Suggesting that everybody restrict their usage of language to conform to your tastes is ugly and overbearing and infantile. This is America, full of diversity, and thereby rich. Carolly

Hauks, it's only America for some of us. However, this IS the Internet, the only truly homogeonous community in the world. Despite the preponderance of American and European presences, the presence of the various other ethnicities, cultures, and societies have become slowly blended in, such that we can even understand, for example, Japanese websites. Not by the language, but by a commonality of symbols and references. And that is what begins to form a true community.

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

"This is America???" No it isn't Carolly. It's a forum on the internet. And perhaps unsurprisingly a lot of people on it are "foreigners".I am for one. I agree with Ron. When I read "potty speak" on a thread I don't envisage a mature, intelligent individual with a keen sense of constitutional freedoms, I envisage a self-indulgent child with a toilet vocabulary, and a petulant attitude.

VirtualSite ( ) posted Sun, 03 February 2002 at 2:03 PM

Well, IMVHO, weve taken ths thread to its conclusion. Can we at least agree on that? =) Otherwise, Im gonna stop this car right now and you can all walk home, do you hear me???
