Subject: Clothing and morph targets

Hi all,

I am trying to modify the P4 man's sweater by exporting it into Rhino and messing with morphs; however, I have a few questions that I'm not sure about (I'm a newbie)

First, I want to delete the cuffs that are on the end of the sleeves and around the bottom of the sweater. Can I just select those points and faces that make up the cuffs and delete them? If I delete them, will that cause a problem with the object when I import it back to Poser?

Second, I want to extend the length of the sweater (I'm attempting to make a tunic :) Do I just "grab" the points and extend/extrude/pull them down?

Third, if I can do all of this, then what is my next step to be able to import it back to Poser and use it? Do I need to do anything to the cr2 file that makes up the sweater? Do I need to create a cr2 file for the sweater-turned-tunic? Do I just leave the cr2 file alone?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Joan

Never ever delete or add points. ;) For the rest check Traveler's Rhino tutorials at morphworld or the Rhino tutorials section of this site. http://www.renderosity.com/~rhino/

Thanks, I checked out that tutorial and I am going to give it a try. So, basically, I'm not deleting or adding anything I'm just taking what is there and moving it around to get it to look the way I want, correct?

I'm assuming I can apply this to clothing objects, not just body parts, am I right?

If you are trying to make a morph, you should never add or delete anything. But if you just want to make a new piece of clothing from an existing one, go ahead. The new item will need its own .obj file, and its own .cr2 file (you can copy the one from the article of clothing you modified, and change the "figure" lines to point to the new .obj).

Thanks, that's what I believe I was looking to do. Just use an existing piece of clothing to create a new piece and then, of course, give it a different name, etc. Now, by figure lines, you mean the "code" in the cr2 for that .obj of clothing, correct? and I can modify that in a text program like Notepad, right? :)))

I think I'm gettin' the hang of this....;)

Not swimming to far from the shore should young yedi. To misery and pain the path lies there. Editing Poser files in a text editor is the high art of Poser magic. There are some really nasty pitfalls. But in the tutorial section at the top of the page is the answer for nearly every question.
