Subject: Mike 2 Clothing and Morph Mapping Scripts

First I want to thank everyone for all their interest, emails and messages. Real life has been crazy around my location and I'm way behind on everything. First off, still working on getting the Mike 2 Clothing Pack 1 out. Hopefully (major crossed fingers) this week. Won't make definitive promises because this project is as slip cursed as the Vicky 2 pak was. On the positive side, part of the slip was me responding to comments from my testers. Mike 2 is in some ways much more complex than Vicky2 and I have been making improvements to the code because of that. Packing the Muscular4 morph into a dress shirt and making it look good was a challenge but the results are looking real sweet. One of the complaints I received from the Vicky 2 clothing morphs was that they were too form fitting. I have worked up some new code to try and deal with that. The Mike2 clothing will fit but should look much more like clothing and less like Mike2's musculature. After the Mike2 clothing is out I will be spending some time cleaning, documenting and upgrading the code as a first step towards making it a near-turn key system for a user. This will also hopefully speed up my production process so that I can get more clothing done per month. So, the Plan (and remember the first thing that goes out the window in a crisis is the Plan) is to get Mike2 out, then take a some weeks/few months to get the code upgraded. During that time I will be doing some selected clothing paks. Some I've had hanging in production for a couple of months and I want to, or have made promises to, finish. The others will be selected partially on their ability to stress and test the code. As I improve and speed up the code I hope to start cranking production out. I am talking with some of the other Daz brokered artists and will hopefully be talking with all of them by the time I can get the production rate up. My end goal has always been to get this to the state of a releaseable product. First off, I have other neat things that I want to develop for Poser. Secondly, I will never be able to map every morph made onto every piece of clothing made. But once I can get it out into the user's hand they can do that for themselves. What form that product is finally in is impacted by a number of factors out of my control. Part of it depends on what and when CL does with Poser 5 especially the level of Python support. I have also been looking at making the scripts into standalone native code (for PC AND Mac) working directly off the CR2 and obj files to pick up some speed. Python is a very nice language but it is an interpreted script language which pays a significant speed penalty for large mesh type operations, like morph mapping. I would like to get the code to the point where it is near real time, real time or maybe even user interactive. But I don't think I'm going to be able to do that in Python. Again, I thank you for your patience. It will hopefully be rewarded soon.

Thanks for the update and you can count on a download from my credit card when you're ready for release.
