Subject: Help! Invisible figures, objects, etc.

I haven't encounteres this problem before so I must put it to the pros. When I load Poser the default character is invisible. No matter which camera I select, I can't see anything in the display window (the view doesn't change either, BTW). I know it's there, because I can see it's loaded and can click on various body parts. The same goes for any objects/figures I try to load as well as loading previously saved *.pr3 files. It's like my cameras aren't working. Same thing if I try to switch to multiple views. Also, when I try to resize the picture the display window stays gray for the original 350 x 350 size and turns white for anything outside of that. I'm running dual 933Mhz with 1G RAM on Win2000. Is this a video card problem, a Poser problem or ??? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions! Doc

Did you check properties to see if visable is checked.

Yep. It is.

It's usually easier if you provide some upfront information first. Do you have Poser v 4.03? If not, get it. There's an update at the Curious Labs site. Have you tried to reset Poser to the factory default settings? Sometimes that fixes problems. Have you tried quitting Poser, then re-running it? Have you tried restarting your computer? Have you looked for other threads about invisible characters? We dealt with this issue yesterday. Have you read the FAQ at the top of this page? Do some research, trie somethings, then get back to us with the results.

menu ----> "Figures" ----> "Show all figures" ??????? I believe Poser has TWO "hide" mechanisms. If "Hide figure" has been "set" from the menu, it cannot be made visible from the "hier" window and verse-visa. (have you tried yor visa?) I do that when the other CCs don't work. ;=]

Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

cheers,

Have you tried deleting the .rsr for the default character? (The .rsr that is in the same folder as the .obj, not the one in the folder with the .cr2 file.) Maybe the geometry is corrupted.

Did you by chance change your screen resolution with Poser running? I made the mistake of doing that once and Poser freaked out giving me similar problems to what you describe. I fixed it by returning the resolution to what it was before (with Poser not running), launching Poser and setting it to use the default start up settings, reboot, reset my resolution to what I wanted, then another reboot again. When I started Poser this time the default windows and cameras behaved normally again and I reset my preferred state for the current screen resolution. Even if you didn't reset your screen resolution, you could still try setting Poser to use the default settings and rebooting to see if it helps. Otherwise, I have no idea :(

Sorry for my delay in replying to all your responses. I'm in Taiwan, so I'm a little out of sync time-wise from most of you. Yes, I'm running PPP with latest SP3 installed. I've restarted Poser and rebooted, etc. I've checked all the possible "hide" options and the settings all seem right. I will try to check the Factory Default settings. I had a problem with that once before, but not the same result. I did not change the screen resolution while operating Poser, but I do have a couple of games installed that do change the resolution from 1024 x 768 (my default setting) down to 800 x 600. I'll go through a few variations on that theme as well and get back to you. I suppose if nothing else works I can uninstall and re-inatall, but obviously I'd like to avoid that if possible. Thank you all again for your time and help. Very much appreciated.
