To everyone and in particular PC, What camera(s) do you use ? I'm very impressed by PC's latest series of images btw. It's digital, right ?

I think I may have mentioned this before, but mine is a Minolta Maxium QTSI. It has been great for my first camera and wonderful for learning the basics on. It also seems to be rather durable because Ive dropped it more times then I care to count. Now that I'm trying to advance I would like something new though. My camera is completely automatic other than the focus and its features are sort of limited. I think the XTSI is probably more of a versitile model and around the same price as the one I have.

I usually use a Nikon FM-10 35mm, sometimes a Pentax K-1000 35mm personally.

I started with a Zenit 35mm SLR, which was all I could afford at the time. Later I started using a Pentax ME 35mm, which I subsequently supplemented with a Pentax MX body, so I could have both colour and B&W available. When I was forced to retire, I treated myself to a Nikon Coolpix 990 digital, but I haven't made as much use of that as I hoped yet.

What ever I can get my hand on. Typically a OLD Sony MVC-FD-7, Pentax IQ Zoom 105. ( The bat cam is a Kodak DC20 ) Bsteph

I have been using digital cameras for a few years now. I started with the Olympus C2500L but have since switched to the Nikon D1 for more versatility in lens selection. I hope to someday be able to afford the Canon EOS 1D digital camera. I have always liked Canon over Nikon.

I'm embarrassed to say that my two 35 mm SLR's are Canon's from the T series. The T-50 was my first.....completely automatic, which really sucked, although I got some pretty decent pics out of it. A couple of years later I bought the T-60 cause it was all I could afford. It's a very, very basic manuel camera and it's served it's purpose although it's limited in some areas. Just a couple of months ago I went digital and got the Minolta Dimage 7, I'm happy to say I love it. I've been thinking of buying the T-90...sort of an upgrade to what I currently have, partly because I already have all the compatible lenses (FD mount) to go on the camera, but it's so expensive...considering I could buy a brand-new camera body for the same or less price. But then that would mean having to buy a whole new set of lenses too.

20 year old Olympus OM2. Unsurpassed. Recently experiments with digital cameras (albeit my currrent fad and with which I'm having fun) don't even come close. If you want, take a look at my safari shots in the gallery, they're on the OM2. Others in there are with various other cameras.

Oh, Hi Rork! Thanks for the compliment. Some of my photos have been taken with a SLR, a Richo KR-10, with a Pentax 50mm lens - I usually use it on manual settings, but occasionally let Auto take over. The others you will see in my Gallery are taken with a fairly basic, but good Agfa CL34 1.3 megapixel camera...I bought it before our youngest daughter Gemma was born, as I was having trouble getting any quality from the local labs...I've found it to be very crisp with good colour reproduction most of the time...but with 1.3 megapixels the images are not really practical to enlarge...I must admit the SLR would win every time however (no big surprise to me) Sorry I've been remiss in not detailing my equipment on many of my postings...I'll try and lift my game! I've put together a portfolio on my web site using Alpha's HTML code from his portfolio tute. "I have always liked Canon over Nikon." Well, I never really understood why people would choose Canon, other than the long tele lenses being half the price of Nikkor's. Hey PC, so those new shots you've been posting the last few weeks are not at all digital ? Wow, nice stuff...sharpness is mindblowing! Well, maybe I'm just insane, but I always use the Aperture priority, never manual.....just cause (unless it's a moving object) I only like to have control over the aperture, and the shutterspeed is not that important. (I prevent slow speeds with using film like Provia 400) Well, thanks for all the info =)

and me! and me!!! I'm using the Fuji 4900z which I love and will rave about forever - it's well worth the price.... My latest experiments (and foray into the film world) have been with a Zenit - maybe even the same type bandred used to use?!? It's certainly some age, I've had it about 16 years and I'm sure it wasn't new then...... truth be known, our eldest (she's 6) has started taking a bit of an interest, and she's used the Zenit more than me lately..... Anybody who had the chance to use "Olympus OM 4T"..?
Never used it, even never saw one live, but thinking that that camera must be a fabulous thing to use, also a fabulous companion..!
It is a one particular obscession for me, when the subject is the photo cameras...
I use whatever I lay my hands on, mostly borrowed from close friends...
Nowadays, it's Mustek Scanexpress 12000P...

JordyArt/Mike, I can appreciate your love for the Fuji. It was on my short list when I was looking to go digital. The main reason I went for the Nikon in the end was because I can't get out and about so much theses days and I thought I would probably make more use of the Nikon's macro capability :) As regards the Zenit, I must have got mine in 1970 :) I'll post a photo of it when I get chance, so you can compare.

Here y'go Mike, this is a quick snap of my manual baby.... Just recently found out that the light meter DOES actually work - just doesn't like being indoors. Once outside it does register.....which means that the 'old thing' is fully functional after all! (",)

I love this thread! No s*, I'm gonna print out a table, and refer to it when I look at all your guy's stuff. The differences in different lens makes has been very interesting to me lately. Now I'm running a Minolta SRT101, mainly with the stock Rokkor 58mm lens. I wish I had a Leica. Joe

I'm crackin' up here, Jordy: I was just on break at work - I came back to this post to look at the picture of your Zenit again. I wanted to copy it and take it over to my (not-on-the-network) computer to use as my background picture. Once it loaded I stopped, sat back, and laughed out loud (again) at the picture. Just then I was startled by Gregory, our russian electronics engineer, who said "what is this? I have one of those at my house!" I said "git otta here!". He said "don't laugh, the lens is excellent." He's going to bring it to work next week so I can see it. Joe

Hey my dad still has one of these.....Zenit is an excellent brand! Don't underestimate the (once) front runner on space industry optics :) In fact, not so long ago I bought an 16mm 2.8 MC Zenitar fisheye lens, which came with 4 screw in filters. Awesome stuff....superb optics. Just look at this silly shot I made a short time ago. So don't let the looks fool you ;)

That really hurts, you laughing at my baby!!! ;-) Seriously though, I know it's old, and it's 100% manual and it doesn't even have one of those split circles to tell you it's focussed (that's what your eyes are for, no?) - but you've gotta remember I've never taken photography seriously until I got my digi about a year and a half ago.... now that I'm learning I'll probably buy a better ie modern one after I've got my A3 printer...but only when I'm happy that I can take pictures with this one properly.... Saying that, I've never had any complaint about the camera itself, it's reliable as hell and built like a tank! (",)

Seriously - I've been learning about something very interesting lately, though. I've been learning about the 'M42 screwmount'. I'm referring to the mounts on Pentax, Praktica, Pentacon, Icarex TM, Chinon, Cosina, Ricoh, Fujica, Mamiya, Yashica, Hanimex, Edixa, Petri, Zenit, Carena and others. Appearently there are some world class lenses available with this mount - most notably Zeiss, and Fujinon EBC. Now I've heard that the Super-Takumars were excellent, too. ..And now I hear about Rork's Zenitar 16mm 2.8 MC fisheye! I am seriously thinking about switching to a screwmount body. Joe
