Subject: Graphics Cards and Carrara

I'm having problems with Carrara's graphics not refreshing properly and also being what could be called "sticky". It also crashed when I tried using Open GL. I'm using a Diamond Viper V550 with 16 MGs of video memory and have plenty of system RAM. Does Carrara require a more powerful card to run smoothly? Is anyone using 3DLabs Oxygen cards with Carrara? Thanks much.

I was having lots of probs using the open GL drivers as well. I switched it back to direct 3d and it's fine now. I am still getting some refresh probs in the preview window but I think it's a bug. Spike

Siva, I also have a card based on the TNT1 chip. I have a Hercules Dynamite TNT 16mb AGP. I have tried both Direct 3D and OpenGL. Both seem to work fine. I'm running DirectX 7, Win98SE, PII 450Mhz with 256mb RAM. Make sure you have the latest drivers for the 550. I also disabled Window Shadows, UI Animations, Show Logo and Desktop Pattern. This speeded Carrara up a good deal. I was suprised. You can access these by selecting File - Preferences - UI Effects. You might try that to see if it helps speed Carrara up for you. Clint

I have the same card as you Sive. No problems with OpenGL. I'm using the driver that came with the card almost 1 year ago. I Never bothered to see if they have a new driver for it. DM aka Nite Miner

Attached Link: Anti alias Problems

Anti alias problems galore, i am using a Quadro fx1100 open gl, tried downloading older driver versions and even going from SP2 to SP1a , even switching from a crt to a lcd. beginning to wonder if driver ports are currupted, the computor has tons of power but the antialias problem still exist's especially in the model room even when i use the evia software! the shingle effect appears.
