ok i have been useing bryce 4. and just got a bryce 5 academic version. ok when i installed it you know some of the presets were installed but all the materials, objects, water, clouds, terrains ect, you have to install that are not zipped and the ones on disk 1 , disk 2 that are zipped . well when i try t import them the ones not zipped and the ones after i have unzipped them. will not import i get 2 diffrent mess........an unexpected error has occurred(permission error)..or...invaild file format. that is when i try to import any files into the bryce catagories the installed ones even dxf obj 3ds ones. and when i try to unzip the ones on the disks i get this.........winzip cannot opendata1.cad file on disk it is not in the standard microsoft cab format.the "signature bytes" required by microsoft cab specifications is missing .....now this is on a new cd-rom i just brought.... now can anyone help me out .... i also cant even import any of the tree and plants objects i have found through this site and i love them but cant use them yet... help!!!!!! brushes4

Please forgive me if I'm not understanding you correctly but you can't import 3D meshes directly into the OBP library. First you need to import the meshes through File>Import Object. Then when you have the mesh textured and named the way you want it, you would click on Create and then add it to your OBPs. From there, you could export is as an obp file.

no it is not 3d obj files it it everything .... not just objects .. but material files, texture files the works on the cd-rom that came with it the same files i cant import into bryce 4 but not into bryce 5....

Copy the files to your hard drive, unzip them, and right-click on the files and uncheck the box that says "read-only." Hope that helps.

Why don't you give a list of items that you're having problems getting into Bryce 5 with their file extensions and then perhaps everyone here would be able to help you better. I know quite a few people who upgraded to Bryce 5 and none of them had the problems you seem to be having.

well winzip should extract those files off the cd regardless of read only or not. It really sounds like bad media.
