Subject: Would anyone be interrested in ...

a Hints and Tips e-book? Have been collecting Poser hints & tips since I started really playing with poser. I'm going to make a "book" with PageMaker and convert to a PDF file for my own convenience. I thought this might be something that others would find usefull also.

I need to contact the authors of the hints/tips and tutorials to get their permission first. If it's a go, will be willing to share with anyone who would like a copy. All authors would get full credit for their work, all I'm doing is collecting it in one central file for ease of use.

This would be my contribution to all the help I have received from the Poser community. Just would need a place to host it.

Those of you who have written a tutorial, and would approve of this project, contact me at: el_jefe52@hotmail.com

If I get enough interrest, will start on the project after the 15th (doing a migration from Novell to Win2K at work, no free time). Thanks.

Robin

I'd be interested if you made an E-Book out of it and not a pdf file...I'm one of those picky peeps that hates reading pdf's.....I use this one...you can DL the Demo if you were only doing 1 project. http://www.ebookcompiler.com/

The crap in most of those EBooks is crap...but I use the Compiler because it's one I like....a lot of things are making it to E-Books...I've had clients contact me to make them images for the front page of their E-Books...the bottom line is that an EBook is nothing more than html pages or pdf type pages, etc. that link together, just like on a website, compiled into one .exe file. E-Books seem to be very popular...thats the format used for computer books....do a search at Yahoo or Google and you'll find tons of info about them...

Dizzie, will have to check out the site on monday. am calling it a day and going home. the reason i metioned pdf, is i personally own both adobe acrobat (4.05) and adobe pagemaker (6.0 & 6.05+), so am more familiar with those. but, am always looking for new "toys" to play with. thanks for the heads up. Robin

hi el jefe52 I own a registered copy of exebook which would enable me to create the ebook for you if you want. The advantage is they're very small files once created and require no special software to run them regards peejay

This sounds like a great idea and I'd be very interested too. BUT if I've understood the above correctly and an e-book would be an.exe file then mac users won't be able to read it. PDF or HTML are fine. I'd hate to miss out ;o) Baz

Hi really great idea.... do it and Ill get it :) Kill two bird with one stone. Just make it html. then all users can access it. Plus you can add search options, chapters and graphics. yes I know pdf can do that also but everybody is already compliant to html. just my two cents worth.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input. Peejay, thanks for the offer and lets look into that. E-mail me and let me know how we can do it.

Had thought of html, but am rusty with it. (haven't writen any code in several years). Reason I mentioned PFD was so both Mac and PC users could access the file, and it allows for "hot links" also. One of my thoughts was to hot link to the author's web site, thereby opening up a "bigger" world for those new to Poser.

Thanks again for the responces, and will look into it further. I'll be ready to start the project after the 15th, and still trying to figure out which format would be the easiest for everyone to access. Also, have to E-Mail the different authors to get their permission. I'm not taking any credit for this project, just giving a little something back to a community that is so willing to help those who are new, or might be experiencing difficulties with Poser. My hats' off to them.

Cresent, thanks for your permission! You are the first of what I hope will be many authors contributing to this project. You will receive full credit in the "book" for all your work, and my thanks (for all that's worth lol).

Robin
