Subject: Shoes in wrong place

Anytime I add shoes, and then tell it to conform to figure, it always goes to the crotch. I am obviously doing something wrong, as I have no ill will toward the character. LOL. Any help would be appreciated.

Stop using the "crotch-shoes." ;=] SIJCRT!

LOL -- okay. Put your figure in the default position and then add the shoes. Make sure you're conforming to Figure 1 (assuming that's the main body figure). It sounds like you're accidently conforming to a pair of shorts somewhere.

Also (and this is harder to verify except thru trial-and-error) make sure the shoes are intended for that specific figure. The Readme sometimes helps. If you're using the wrong shoes for your figure you might try using the "conform to...nothing" trick, & then just parenting them to the feet.

Jcleaver ( ) posted Sun, 10 February 2002 at 7:38 PM

That's probably what is happening. I can now get them on the foot, but I can't get them to fit properly. I'm using Vicky 2.0, and the Morphable ankle boots for Vicky from DAZ, but they won't cover the entire foot. I have tried scaling, but then the shoe looks way too big at the ankles. So much to learn. Thanks for the help.

You can always select the foot & make it invisible inside the boot - about the simplest fix.

Jcleaver ( ) posted Sun, 10 February 2002 at 7:42 PM

I didn't think of that! Thanks!

Jcleaver ( ) posted Sun, 10 February 2002 at 7:56 PM

Yep, that works. Again thanks. I'm just sort of surprised that shoes specifically for Vicky doesn't properly fit Vicky. Oh well.

I had a devil of a time with the YellowJacket super hero character from 3DCC. His boots always connected to his leg or crotch, but not to his feet. I finally asked "the public," and was told to select either the boots or the body and turn of use Inverse Kinematics (IK). That did the trick! Try it. Ron

Thanks Ron I was haveing same problem getting shoes to fit. You posts still make me ;=) Joan

Shoes rarely if ever conform properly. I think it's one of the Basic Laws of Poser.

Hmm, mebbe the shoe was meant for the "third leg". Wait, nevermind. Joey V

So did I help at all?! If so, kool!

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 11 February 2002 at 2:43 AM

Shoes, socks, and props flying around are almost always a problem because of that damnable IK. Turn it off for all figures that you load, before conforming or parenting, and things are MUCH easier.

I'll try that Ron when I get a chance. Again, thanks to everyone!!
