Subject: To Everyone whose items I host - great news! (jenay, aardvark as well)

(This primarily goes to Geralday, Ron Knights, Stu Clarkson, Little_Dragon, Rip Taylor, Aardvark, & Jenay.) I've finally gotten the school proxy to behave with FTP. Check your e-mail for your username and password to access FTP. I figure this way, you won't have to wait until I'm here to modify or upload your files. Full details are in the email you should recieve. Jenay, Aardvark - I'll go ahead and let you upload the files directly, since it would be easier than moving them manually as I had been doing all this time. I'll add FTP access as I add directories for free stuff items. All I ask is that, because this server is school property, that you adhere to the "green jello" standard*... (in a nutshell: no warez and no porn.) (*inside joke... Utah residents are free to laugh now :) Cheers, /P

Cool - jenay and Ron reports success as well. Beats having me do it during business hours :) /P

Well I haven't tried the FTP yet, since I had things to do. But I have faith it will work. Thanks very much. Oh, and green jello is fine.

Ah, my bad... thought you loaded something (haven't checked yet, tho'.) Oh, and if you folks want to make a web page there, no prob... Apache will handle it either way. /P

Hay, Pengie, you don't do any bads, in my book!

Green jello?

jstro ( ) posted Mon, 11 February 2002 at 6:04 PM

Ha! I got the green jello line. And I don't live in Utah. Just been there once on a business trip. Got a postcard explaining the green jello phenomenon. Sort of the (un)official State Food. Hmm... I wonder if Jello making could be made into an Olympic event? ;-) jon

jstro got it on the first go... According to the makers of Jell-O, Utah consumes the most Jello of any state in the US, and green Jello sells the most around here. It's an inside joke among the non-LDS folks living here (me ferinstance) that anything up to Mormon church standards (ie; no alcohol, no tobacco, no caffeine, no porn, no dancing too close, no cuss-words stronger than "Oh my Heck!", etc. etc.) is in accordance with the "Green Jello Standard" ;) /P

NO caffeine? In anything??? I guess they use their chocolate molds for... green Jello.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Mon, 11 February 2002 at 8:11 PM

heh - there's a tiny amount of lee-way, I suspect... the line stops at Soda (like Coke/Pepsi), if memory serves. But yeah, no caffeinated drinks. (meanwhile, I love cigars, drink coffee by the gallon in the mornings, and love nothing better than to cut loose with a whole string of choice verbiage if the ref dares to make a bad call at any point during College Football season. We won't even discuss the enjoyable sips of good whisky that occur when guests come over ;) /P

Who-ah! Too cool P.

Letterworks ( ) posted Mon, 11 February 2002 at 9:18 PM

Yeah, it was the coffe that got to me. I was all ready to convert. Stopped smoking, stopped cussin', read both the Good Book and the Book of Mormon but I just couldn't stop the coffee! Oh, well, I'm just meant to be a happy, caffinated sinner, I guess ;^) mike

Ah gee, I'm a minister's son and husband. I love to swear once and awhile. (Usually not in public). I smoke, but don't drink alcohol much. And well there are a few other vices I will let you imagine. Oh, I lived in Minnesota for 20+ years. They had the highest consumption of popcorn, and the lowest colon cancer rate. Can you say "roughage?!" Ron
