Is anyone running Poser on NT4.0?? Since I already had it, I figured I would try using it instead of buying win2K or XP (and I'd rather not buy XP!). When I try to run Poser, I get the error message above.

Has anyone else seen this before?

I've already sent email to CL this morning, but I have not had good responses (and sometimes no repsonse) from their technical support email.

Does the problem occur if you reboot & try again? I've been using XP, and I've had virtually no Poser-Related problems from it. (XP-Home, that is; amd I hear Pro is even better) Another member was having trouble that appeared to clear up when they visited the Curious Labs site & installed the Poser4.03 free upgrade.

I am using Poser 4 Pro pack with Poser 4.03 (required for Pro Pack) and Service Pack 3 for Pro Pack. Yes, I did reboot.

Hi there. Yes I have ran Poser on NT 4.0 but never had that error message. Did you install the service packs? I believe the last release I had was nt service pack 4.08 1998? If you are thinking about moving to a new operating system and you have a Pentium III with at lease 256MB RAM I highly recommend Win2K If you have a Pentium III with a 500mhz or better then get XP it is fantastic for graphics work. My system I have a Pentium III 550e mhz coppermine with 512k front side bus "256 sux" 640mb SD 133mhz RAM and a Maxtor Ultra-133 40GB 7200 hard drive. AGP graphics card i.e. ATI with 64MB V RAM. Windows XP Pro OS.This system loads Poser very fast amd I have NEVER had a crash with Poser. cheers!

It's fairly common for msvcrt.dll to be overwritten by other programs (especially MS Apps) Check & make sure you still have the correct version for your OS (simple check - compare the date/time with most of the files in your windows folder) Or it could be corrupted. Try restoring it from your NT4 cabs or installation disk.

Couple tech support sites report nearly that exact error message when that file has been overwritten with an earlier version - most are fixed by installing version 6 or above (a lot of Adobe apps, appear to overwrite it with 5.0, it seems) The file is often in use by Windows, which prevents it being overwritten when you try & fix it, so you may need to go to a command-prompt or boot into dos to do it. I don't have a link, but if all else fails, you should be able to get the latest version from the Microsoft Support Site.

When I updated IE on the workstation, it updated the Dll's and fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.

I installed the free poser3 from 3d world Magazine
and upgraded it to poser4 with my Metacreations

i use it strictly to test my Poser Merchant products on the pc platform

I like NT
if i ever get a real PC i will probably stick with NT.
