Nearly every "serious" render I start on, the first thing I do is load one of Graphon's "environments" It gives a nice 360 background & matching ground plane. There's about 12 in the series. He's pulled his dozens of creations from freestuff here (I think while he was setting up his new site), but still allows downloads from the new site. If you visit, be sure to look around, & post a comment or two in the forum there. He's started releasing a few (so far) new items as commercial products (Here in the marketplace, & more on his site). To help defray the costs of his site, & the high bandwidth usage of his free stuff, he's set up a Paypal account to accept donations. I've used so many of his free downloads, I posted a donation without hesitation. If you visit his site, please consider it, too. (This is an unsolicited endorsment; I'm so tickled to find his stuff still available, & more coming, that I wanted to spread the word!)

I found the site easily-- I'd passed up all the free stuff because I thought they were backgrounds. These are great. Thank you for letting us know. I'm giving a donation too. It kills me to see all the free sites floundering and barely able to stay afloat.

Pardon my confusion. Are these environments "Backgrounds" to be used in Poser, or are they actually something else? They are beautiful, I just don't know exactly what they are.

I've said several times that it's work like Graphon's that gives a render that last touch of reality. Between his straightforward, elegantly made, utilitarian pieces and the more abstract forms, he does things you just can't find anywhere else. Beautiful work, period. And take a look at his "broken props" series. I'm getting that one -- I can imagine all sorts of possibilities there.........

Graphon's "enviRONments" <----must have been made with you in mind ;=]

consist of:

!. a special texture for the ground

  1. a very big cylinder with an exceptionally good texture applied
Note: textures applied to a surface appear on both faces of the surfaces when applied. (i.e, front and back or inside and out) On Graphon's thingy, you are looking at the inside of the cylinder.

The camera is INSIDE the cylinder and you can rotate the scene with a seamless 360 degree bacground.

It exactly the same as those 360 degree movie screens if you've ever seen one.

They are pretty neat. They are not complex. It doesn't take long to try one. As a matter of fact (AAMOF), I think there is one you could use as a backdrop for your saloon.

Boy that sounds impressive. I may need someone to explain them to me when I get to try them. I'm pretty slow sometimes.

if you have trouble getting any of graphons stuff at his site, he also has alot of it hosted at my site, so you might give a go there (including his environments) just a friendly note =-)
