I figured out how to hide body parts wirh a pose file, as a part of a utility pose set I am going to post for free. What body parts do you find need to be hidden most often (so I can build those poses ;) Also part of the set, poses to turn IK on and off, White MAT poses for the 4 main figures, + a few others I am working on :) Let me know. -Trav

queri ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:34 AM

For me it's Thighs and shins-- haven't tried boots yet, probably foot and toe then. You're an angel. you know that, huh? I still don't understand IK enough to know if it's off or on.:-)

SPIRESMEDIA ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:36 AM

most often i hide the feet/toes/sometimes shin for shoes/boots this sounds like a COOOOOOL utitility to have, thanks for making it available! tam ;o)

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:38 AM

feets __ because most of the boots/shoes never exactly fit because they would look too wide if they did hips __ cause sometimes I forget to turn off the genitals :)) Warm fuzzies to ya sir... Diana

dlfurman ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:39 AM

Make that THREE for the lower extremities.

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:40 AM

Ok, I have ones for feet, lower legs (feet and shins), Legs (feet to thighs), Hip. Any call for the arms/chest or buttocks (for vickie/mike figures)? -Trav

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:42 AM

The hips, thighs, shins, feet, toes, right collar, and finally the left collar. I occasionally have a need to hide the shoulders and forearms....depending on the pose and clothing item I use. Great idea Eric! =OD

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:51 AM

might just go ahead and do the rest of the torso Trav... they would be useful at one time or another anyhows.. Thanks for thinking of this.. very good idea! Did you see the hooded robe message thread below? I am shamelessly plugging them for ya! Hugs!

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:53 AM

foot and toe usually :) and with Michael his genitals :P

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 11:55 AM

Petunia: Yes I did, Thanks :) Eowyn: I will have to see about the genital switch, it should be do-able with a pose.

kayjay97 ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:00 PM

Traveler!! You are a jewel! Hmmm... well... seeing as almost nothing fits Michael 2 when he's all beef up almost everything! LOL... but really, for me it thighs, shins, feet and toes.

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:01 PM

Does that mean that you will think about my vicky boots message I sent ya? :)

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:01 PM

For the LOVE OF GOD please make one that will hide the hands and all the finger parts!!!!!!!!!! Do you KNOW how many times I've had to hide fingers for gloves? I hate having to do that by hand... I promise to set up an altar and worship you as a god if you do that... okay, well maybe not... but I'd be really grateful.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:03 PM

Ooooh! Ooooh! Yes!! I forgot about the hands and finger parts! I've had the same aggravations. I vote for that too!

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:06 PM

Oh gosh yesh... how could i have forgotten the dreaded "this little pinky went wee wee weeeee out of the glove" syndrome! Good thinking Cin!!

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:10 PM

Petunia: I got your email, I am slow to reply these days, Today is my first day to play for almost a week and a half ;) The boots shoulden't be too hard to convert, I will give it a shot. Cin, Nikita, all: Ok, more for the list ;)

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:11 PM

PS. Yes I am that sick of an individual that considers cutting and pasting poser code as play.... man I need help, LOL

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:13 PM

ty trav.. not to worry and have fun playing.. I can wait on that.. just teasing you a bit since you are in here to tease.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:14 PM

LOL @ Eric! =OD

eirian ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:37 PM

I've had to hide everything except the head at some point. Legs and feet are 'worst'. And the breasts for Vickie...though I generally morph them out of the way if necessary. Sounds like one heck of a useful set!

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:40 PM

there have been some cases where the only things I didn't hide were the head, neck and hands. It all depends on what clothing is used.

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:49 PM

Actually I'd say, if possible, make the set so that it hides every body part, and then you just click each pose as you need to hide it... and then do a few in groups... for example "Lower Body" hides hips down, "Hands" hides the hands and fingers. "Feet" hides the feet and toes... shrug At one point or another I've hidden every body part except for the head...

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:54 PM

All: Ok, the hands are done. These should be at Morph World by tonight. I wasn't able to find a way to switch off the genital hip with a pose yet, gotta keep looking for that one ;) Cin: The poese are very simple. Here is a piece of code to hide a body part: actor rPinky1:1 { on } (on shows, off hides) If someone wants to build individual sets from these they are more then welcome to. I have done them in groups and mahor body sections, basically because I am getting lazy ;)

Impudicus Rex ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 1:48 PM

Thanks for the great work. You wouldn't happen to know how to automaticaly conform an article of clothing using a pose file, would you?

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:16 PM

If that's all the code it is....I can make up a few. ;o)

Dave71 ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:28 PM

Hey I will pipe in, one for the entire lower body, from buttocks down for Antons Popstar pants. The hands and fingers, the feet and toes and feet, toes and shins. Wow, what a great idea, can't wait to see how it is done :)

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:36 PM

In case you wanted it right now Dave! LOL! Just copy and paste into a text editor and save it as a PZ2. I alreay tested it...it works. ;o)

This is so cool Eric! I love shortcuts! ;o)

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:38 PM

You don't need the thigh length sections or the figure block at the end :)Or the second version block at the bottom.

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:39 PM

So you could cut it down to:

actor hip:1

actor rButtock:1
{

actor rThigh:1

Ahhhhhhh....Thanks Eric! =OD

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:50 PM

well i must say that looks easy enough even for bumble-heads like me to understand! cool

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:52 PM

The only real trick to it is remebering to use the internal names for the body parts and not the ones poser uses. Like Right Collar in Poser is rCollar internally. Those can be found by looking at the top of a .cr2 file for your figure.

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 2:56 PM

hide and seek pose files? seek being the ones to make 'em all come back on...

Valandar ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:03 PM

How about one for gloves? Turns the hands and all fingers off, one of the most time-consuming things... grrr...

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:04 PM

Turning them back on would be easy... open the pose file in a text editor and do a global find and replace... replace ever instance of off with on. :)

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:08 PM

I DID figure that one out -all by myself even- but was trying to figure out a name for the type of pose file (like a mor - for morph) these would be.. goes to show that I ought to be more specific in my ponderings -yes?

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:12 PM

Oh... sorry, I misread your post Petunia...

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:28 PM

lol I put a grin in there but in the >< things so it didn't get posted.. That's ok Cin.. I misread me too most of the time.

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:49 PM

I am calling them HS Poses for Hide and Show :)

Xena ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 3:58 PM

Trav, once again you make life a little easier (and man am I slow on reading the forums today!) Thank you :) PS .. I adore the rose :)

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 4:03 PM

All done. :) The hand HS poses are in there + some true zeroing poses (Zeros the pose of a figure and puts it in the center of the poser universe) etc. Have fun! -Trav

Xena ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 4:06 PM

Thank ye kindly Trav. Much appreciated here I can tell ya s

Valandar ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 4:45 PM

Most certainly! And are they Mike and Vicky only, or for the Dork and Posette, too?

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 4:50 PM

They will work for any figure that has standard poser set up for mike and vickie set up (Mil Kids, Baby, all P3 & P4 people, mike, vickie, etc)

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 4:55 PM

Sigh..... first the virtual mystery model... now the infamous no-see-um Hide and Show poses... It might be this dummy ie explorer that doesn't like to update new html files until 3 weeks from post.

Congrats, Trav. I've been making occasional attems to find a way to do this for ages. Now I'll finally be able to make that hide-tentacle-tip pose I've been wanting to make. I'll be able to replace the subdividing transparency poses in the chains too. This is excellent. Thanks for posting the info.
