Subject: .obj to conforming clothing?

Is it possible to make a conforming clothing figure out of an .obj file? I have a pair of overalls that are in .obj format, but they're one solid object. By that, I mean they're not split up into different body parts. When I try to move one part, the whole thing moves (Like a prop). I've looked for tutorials on this, including right here on Renderosity, but I couldn't find any. If this is possible, could somebody tell me where I could find a good tutorial about how to do this? Thanks in advance. ;)

Also, PhilC has a highly-recommended tutorial CD, which can be purchased at his site.

The Pro Pack add-on for Poser has a Setup Room feature that greatly simplifies the figure-making process.
