Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 4:48 pm)
You're right. It is fuzzy, therefore not very informative. The ironic thing about CPU usage monitors, in conjunction with other such utilities: You use them, and the hog all your cpu cycles. Therefore your computer is hobbled. It's better just to let your operating system do its job. The other day I got something going that I didn't want, and suddenly my cpu cycles were hogged. I fixed the problem by cutting back the programs that were loaded at startup. Ron
Heh - it's fuzzy because I had to shrink it to fit (my normal screen resolution is 1600x1200 :) The usage monitor I posted is Task Manager, which comes with Windows (Linux users can use top for comprehensive text-based readouts and snapshots.) I just wanted to note that Poser never really sucks down all that much CPU cycles on my machine until I render... In spite of the fuzz, notice the graph - the initial spike is from Task manager starting up, then it drops to almost nothing, which is how much edit mode sucks down (unless the polycount is through the roof, then you notice some usage...) /P

hey this is just a random stupid question. I just bought poser 4, i've been using 3 for a while, but i got 4 and the pro pack, and now my comp runs slow as molasess, which it shouldn't because the only way i could get my computer to be any faster is to sell my soul to satan, or buy an sgi workstation. Any thoughts?
