Subject: What is wrong in the poser gallery

Boytronic ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 4:10 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:20 PM

I just have a question about the poser gallery and some artist there. I'm pretty new in those community but i guess i won't stay longer as possible, because what i saw is just incredible. They are few artist out there like (Stormi, Dalanise, LisaB, Sinister, Morris) with a lot comments on the own postings because the selling stuff (sometimes i thing i visit the marcet place) but i don't see any posting from those people on other pictures. Well it took me a lot time to go through to those pictures and i didn't like all of them. I also saw pictures from artist they doesn't receive many comments or just few but those picture are much much better. Some artist telling other artist how beautiful the model are but i think those faces ugly and nasty looking. What is wrong. I saw a picture out there with painted hair this looks so unnatural because the hair is falling complete to the right side like an orkan is blowing. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=141766&Start=85&Sectionid=1&WhatsNew=Yes or another picture with an painted robe, well i guess the artist need more practice with an good painting programm. It's just my opinion but i guess some of those artist thinking they living on an higher hill and maybe they are to proud to write comments to other artist but they are very very wrong. It looks like they kissing or licking only the asses of some etablished artists and the rest is just nothing but who is buying all the stuff. Why do they show all those things in the gallery?? I thought there is an marcet place. Why they doesn't write comments to other artists. And please no excuses for no time or whatever. I'm tired to read something like this because you got the time to post your work. So is some of those artist out there and not to proud to answer of this questions. I reallyy would appreciate this. Thanks alot for taking the time to read this threat. :)) Boy

I follow the link to see the image. I found it pretty. I do not care is the image is realistic or not. But do not become worry about other people because their does not thing differently from you. In example, if you throw a look in my gallery you will see the 3 images a have realize. The orchid is my first artist modeling and rendering. And need me, lot a time and love. The new beginning is a image created for the Renderosity contest. Once again I create it in spending lot of time. Last but not least, the temple image is just one I create for test the ways to have export Poser items and import them in Blender. Viewer result : Temple, Orchid and New Beginning. So that means for me, That people prefer my test image rather than my real artistic work. At this time have not received any comments even if I will be glad to have them. May be my works is perfect and do not need them. LOL. Or may be it is too bad for people take the time to comments it. (Certainly more realistic in my point of vue). Guy Demesmaeker

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 7:34 AM

Didn't we had that kind of thread some days ago?
If one does not like the images in the gallery one should show us his/her/its images and prove that he/she/it can do better BEFORE posting such doofe (<-german word for stupid) comments in the forum. But sadly this comes up if we do a search for Boytronic's gallery:

Boytronic's Gallery Images
Sorry, but no files match your search

I did not expect any other result.

Didnt your Mommy told you that if you dont have to say anything nice keep your mouth closed? Think about that.

BTW. what does Batten down the hatches mean?

Well, its this 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' thingie. Some people make those images, other (or the same) people look at these images, like them, vote for them. But you don't have to concern yourself with it. Its entirely possible to ignore those pictures. There are enough other in the gallery. Comment on those, if you like.
The important thing is: Don't try to change other people to fit your agenda. Do as you like, maybe others will follow.

PS: I like some pictures from the mentioned artists. I like some of Legueme's pics also. So sue me. ;P

I check all the galleries, Poser,Bryce and Vue. I enjoy all the work Pro and beginers, I look for tips and tricks, and like when the artists gives a few details on how they did... but what bugs me the most is the Poser gallery, it gets some great work but some of it should be posted in the mixed mediums. Sometimes I think there should be a gallery called " I have heard of Poser... but I prefer PHOTO SHOP"... Just my opion :) Niles

Someone once said "If you want realism, take a photograph." The beauty of art is that we can express our inner feelings in a tangible way and, perhaps, share those feelings with others. Still, others of us are trying out new (at least to us) ways of using this versatile modeling program. Where would we, the Poser community, be if Kozaburo hadn't spent endless hours perfecting his techniques for creating life like hair? If he had been unable to obtain any feedback on his efforts we would all loose something. Others spent tremendous amounts of time trying out photographic lighting techniques, photrealistic textures, etc. Most of these techniques are readily available to you either as tutorials or ready to purchase items. Why not try some of them out and show us how you "view" the world of Poser? I am sure that many would be interested in seeing you own particular insights. Or, perhaps, you could model some particularly traumatic incident in your life that would be difficult to express in any other way, but you wish to share with others? The world is your oyster my friend -- share it with us :o) Jim Moore

previously this thread would have gotten moved to c&d - which is why c&d got the reputation for being filled with people who hate pinups, or just people who do nothing BUT tear one group or other down. didn't look apparent to anyone but people who hung out in c&d that most of these complaints come from totally new people most of the time. who cares now, right? there's no c&d now. so we get this sort of stuff in all the regular forums instead. rolls eyes i like pinups and like many other styles too, variety is good. take everything in moderation, but at least give each thing a go, you only live 9 times ;)

Puntomaus, That comment was completely out of line. Do you follow your own advice?! As for me, I post for the joy of posting. I don't expect any Gallery Comments, but I am thrilled if others like my work. That tells me I did the job well enough for others to take the time to comment. I try to find time (every day or so) to at least go through the first two pages of What's New in the gallery and leave comments. I usually find something good to say, and it is easy. If I don't have something good to say, I won't leave an embarassing public comment. If I think my comments can help the artist, I will send an Instant Message. And I will be diplomatic and supportive. There is a saying/question: "Is your glass half full, or half empty?!" I prefer to think of my glass as overflowing. I will take the generosity and support I receive, and give as much of my own as possible. I will not worry about those who don't leave comments. Take care, Ron

What is it with trashing the artists in the gallery???? I thought that was a beautiful image and would kill to be able to paint like that. And really, if you dislike a piece that much and want to comment do that. JUST comment. Don't post the link to an image. That is ridiculing a person in public and really uncalled for. Art is just that... Art. Everyone likes different art. I don't like Picasso but other rave!

Puntomaus, One thing about being an adult is that you learn responsibility for your own behaviour. If someone says something you don't like, you don't need to insult that person. You can just say: "I don't like what you said," etc. When you have some time you might want to do some research on these two topics: 1.) Constructive Criticism 2.) Assertive Communication Ron

dglidden ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 8:30 AM

Ok I've read through this crap about as far as I am going to... and that is exactly what this is... crap. Boytronic, or whatever your name is, I have a news flash for you two of the people you are flaming have shown this site alot of support and have given more comments than anyone else I have seen. Now I wonder... where is your gallery? Do you have no talent or do you think you are just too good to post here? Or are you just a self proclaimed wind bag art critic that thinks you can go around stouting trash just to hear yourself??? It is because of jerks like you that I have left the galleries and have very little interactions. Why don't you do me and the rest of the site a favor and keep your promise by leaving and never returning... believe me when I say you won't be missed.

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 8:32 AM

Hi Ron, maybe my english isn't as good as your german and maybe sometimes I just use my basic english vocabulary to express what I think. About insulting people: licking each others ass is not insulting people? LOL

dglidden, I consider your attitude to be a very bad one for this community. Renderosity is supposed to be an artist's community. It is not supposed to be a place where people get slaughtered for disagreeing with you. Ron

Morris ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 8:36 AM

Well Byronic, I know who you are under a different screen name, though this I will keep to myself, That is my work you decided to link to and it is my name you are trying to sling through the mud. First of all, Sinsister no longer posts here nor does she sell at the MarketPlace. The comments she received here is because she is amazing! As well as the other artists you mention. You know I was going to come up with a long lengthy rebuttal here, but its just not worth it. I really enjoy being both a member and a Merchant here at Renderosity, I feel I am very supportive and if you truly knew me you would know that, I find endless amounts of inspiration browsing the galleries, I love the works of both the newbies and those that have been around a while, and I cherish the friendships I have made. Have a great weekend because you know what I am not going to let you ruin mine :-) Sincerely, Jeni Oh and PS I want to thank you everyone for their comments and their support :-)

ronknights ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 8:40 AM

Puntomaus, I don't lick asses, and I won't kick them. What I've begun to do is "take names." If I run into a merchant or artist who flames me or others, I will do my best to let them know I feel they're out of line. After that I will utilize this system to its fullest to be sure that my rights, and the rights of others are enforced. The time for games is over. Ron
