I dunno... it's one of those situations where I can actually see a little of both sides. I mean, only a fool would deny that there are a few cliques wandering around here -- a community this large would have to have at least four or five, right? =) A certain artist gets a following, he/she in turns starts to frequent the galleries of his/her admirers, and before long, you got yourself a clique. It's just sort of inevitable. The downside is that people in a clique tend to overlook the downside of each other's work, and as such get a little perturbed when someone like Boytronic (whose frustration has to be augmented by the fact that English is not his first language) who's pointing out a few things that some of us would prefer not to hear. Now, in the case of the image he linked us to -- yeah, he was a little harsh on the hair bit. It does look like there's been a tad too much conditioner at work here, but since it's hand-painted, I can't fault the artist for that. However, you have to grudgingly admit that, in some respects, she really is kinda bone ugly in the face. Not the artist's fault, I add with as much haste as this keyboard will allow, but let's allow a small crack of realism every now and then, okay? Sometimes these meshes aren't the most flattering, no matter how much virtual makeup we trowel on -- and this, sadly enough, IMVHO, is one of them. So let's not ride this guy too hard, okay? It's bad enough that he's trying to express something in a language not his own, but further to that, we should allow a cat to grin at a king. NOW, about all the DAMN ADS IN THE GALLERIES..... =)
Well said VS. People express themselves in different ways. If we concentrate on the message. And not the exact wording. I think we can all deal with things much better. All to many times arguments are started by someone hurting someone else's feelings. When it was never their intention to do so. We will see what we can do about the ads. Now that we have a "Product Showcase" forum. We will try to get everyone in the habit of using it. ScottA
well i have to apologiese for this misunderstanding about my threat and yeah VirtualSite you're right, english isn't my first language. Well i could write this in my first language if you want but most of those people here wouldn't understand this :)) right is like you said..some people overlook the work of other artist and i guess that's not only my opinion.
she really is kinda bone ugly in the face. Not the artist's fault, I add with as much haste as this keyboard will allow, but let's allow a small crack of realism every now and then, okay? LOL at ronknights....If you notice my comment on said picture, yesterday.....I really thought her face was very, very pretty. So much for taste ;*) being individual.
I express myself in the same way like Boytronic and i'm proud of this...what is wrong in telling the truth ?? I really like and apreciate more honesty and i guess the way of honesty is much better to help and understand each other. If i'm lying about a picture i don't like..it doesn't hurt only the artist it would hurt me too because i lie :))
There is nothing wrong with telling the truth. The problem is some people don't respect the artist enough to word it in a respectful way. The truth is not an excuse to rip someone apart. You still owe it to the artist, as a fellow human being, to be as polite in your criticism as possible. But I was brought up with old school values. It doesn't seem this type of thinking is very popular anymore. :-( ScottA
Okay...but.... Cliques hurt people's feelings, too. Cliques can and, very often DO deem others invisible. Artists often have egos. Often...can that....artists DO have egos. There is nothing that can be done, here, about a group of friends who are online alot, discussing their latest wips, and, when they will be loaded to the gallery. there is nothing that can be done, here, from stopping this same/or maybe, even two or 3 groups of online friends from voting one another into the hot twenty. it is like schmoozing in the real world, i think. however, i can see someone new, here...and, perhaps, having a life in that other world, one who cannot "hang out", here 24-7, making the necessary alliances to assure a nicely padded gallery future....Well, it is easy to see how one could pick up on how things work here, and, to feel some resentment. Solution: This is renderosity. It is a privately owned site. It is no more fair than the rest of life out there. Enjoy what YOU do. If you can browse your own gallery a year or more after your first post and STILL LIKE YOUR RENDERS....you just pleased your hardest critic. And, for everyone else....please take some time and look at ALL the pics in the gallery of your choosing. Try and make the time to comment on what you do enjoy. There are some jewels...and they are hard to find, 'cause, they aren't all in temples. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!

I read the thread by this boytronics and was hurt by it. Not for me but those who he pointed out. I have been here about a year now and have a rather large gallery myself. When I get comments about a picture I have done I am so thankful to get it. I don't post my pictures for only good comments but to learn and get ideas. I have learned so much from people like Morris, Stormi, Rockets and destiny and so many others I can't name. When I see their work I become inspired to get to that level. I will be the first to tell you I need help....BOY I NEED HELP, my hair work looks like mops and I won't even go there about creating beautiful clothing.
I feel that all the comments that the above artisits get is deserved! I have never felt that there was any "Plug" to by things in the marketplace, does anyone realize that these artist bounce ideas off each other? One will come up with a new charater or texture and will want another artist to give it tst drive so to speak. I have seen countless works done where another artist has asked another to beta test thier character or texture. It doesn't mean that it's a plug.
It hurts me to see these artists attacked this way. It hurts me becuase I don't feel they post thier work to make others feel bad or that they want to feel superior to others. They post becuase it pleases them. So what if they decide to sell something they've put hours of time into? Hell, I'd buy it and so would other becuase maybe we don't have the talent to make such beautiful things.
It also hurts me to see such attacks because I may look up to these artists and thier work. It give me something to shoot for. It helps me to improve. None of these artist have their nose so far up in the air that if you messaged them and asked how they did something that you would not get an answer. These artists have given us countless tuts and tips that make the poser world what it is.
I Know this is only my opinion and like arm pits everybody has some, but this post upset me. So you don't get the comments you think you deserve? Well don't post in an open forum or check off on your uploaded picture you do not want us to be able to comment. Don't attack other artisits. And if you think that becuse these artists have products in the marketplace is the only reason they get so many comments think again. Thier work says it all....oh yes, people with products for sale in the marketplace are not making a killing and laughing all the way to the bank either.
