All we had time for during our stay in Atlanta were short breaks. I had brought my camera, - and was determined to do some texture shooting while there. I've wrestled with some of the pictures today, - and would love your input/comments. Britt

The old oak is down and defeated. Strange organisms are invading the previously proud giant tree.

I remember the first time I was reading "Gone with the wind" and was trying to picture "Tara's red soil". Well, it's real. :)

Last one for now... not much texture on this cone... but there is SOME :)

To be honest wit-cha, the first one (valve) looks like it was taken with a $1000000 camera, and the other three with a $99 camera. I think they're just over-JPG'ed. The first one's the winner for texture. I like the third one (pine cone), but I think it displays more 'pattern' than 'texture'. Boy - this is reminding me; I'd better get on the ball myself here if I'm gonna come up with an entry, and the competition is starting to scare me. Time's flying! Joe

laughing they're all taken with the same camera, - and in a hurry. Obviously. But I do agree with you. I like the valve too! Britt

The first one is the best but there is more texture in the lichen on the oak & in the soil if you could bring it out more.

I think the second can be a real jewel. But I think you have over brightened the picture. Perhaps you should have under exposed it and brighned it digitally. Also it looks a little blurry. The Pine cone, uh, I think you were a tad too close for that one. Not sure never tried to take a picture of a pine cone before. I'll have to try that out. And finally I think you over jepeged the dirt. Too. Sorry. Do you still have the picture? Play around with it it's definitely got a texture feel to it. I'm sure with the correct layer below it you can do some really neat stuff. Bsteph

I kind of like the pine cone...

I love the first one Britt, you know me and harware grin That is a really cool shot, and fascinating...it's a valve you say? The alien fungus in the tree and the pine cone I quite like too! I've always loved the pine cone pattern up-close. Red Soil...if you want to see really RED soil (well more like dust, actually) you should visit Central Australia! 5 years later, I was still shaking red dust out of my boots...gets everywhere!

I really like the first one myself....the pine cone one is really cool for the pattern you've captured.

I am, therefore I create.......
