this will be the most ridiculous question i will ever ask but its bothering me, how do i get a sun or moon in bryce to be visible, i see some of the presets have a sun or moon. i cant seem to get on when i do it, what the hell am i doing wrong?

Easy! Unfortunately, I can't remember off the top of my head, but no problem. Go to "Bryce Chronicles" (found via tutorials page at Brycetech). there are a couple of tuts on how to do that...has to do with shift-alt etc. However, you can place the sun/moon with fairly good accuracy provided that you unclick "link sun to view" in the Sky&Fog dialog. If this is clicked (default) the sun/moon will stay in the same clock position (five, four, etc.) regardless of where you are viewing. (i.e. you are looking "north" and the sun is behind your right shoulder, 5 o'clock. If "link sun to view" is the default, as you rotate your view, so does the sun... so no matter where you turn, the sun is over your right shoulder. Unchecking this, makes the sun/moon stay in one place, so as you rotate, the sun/moon stays where it should... kinda like the real world. It took me a while to realize this simple fact...

Hold the Ctrl & Alt keys then double click on the sun icon at the top ( next to the Sky & Fog palette ) Now anywhere you click in the scene window will place the sun there. For it to be visible go into the Sky Lab and set up the size and such. You may need to enable sun visible or something in there to.

Stephen Ray - if only I had known that little fact a long time ago! Many hours of fiddling would have been prevented.... ;)

Shift,Ctrl,Alt, then double click = the moon, or you can just switch the sun and moon using the icon. Hey Kate there's a bunch of little tricks ( easter eggs ) in Bryce. Sometimes I forget one, and do it the hard way. About the time I finish it dawns on me it could have been done much easier.

Yeah, I've seen you ( and other masters ) drop the occasional easter egg and I think...do you have a list of these? Has anyone got a list of the little tricks like this? And why have them in the first place..I rely pretty heavily on learning from the manual to start with and then just by experimentation...and I would never think to try some of these keystroke combinations...why have hidden functions????
