Subject: would anyone be interested in making this posable??

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 7:51 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 8:01 PM

I made this model a couple of months back and would like for someone to make it posable so I can put it in freestuff. Any takers?? If so does it need to be 1 solid piece? Now its just split where the colors are different(I cant make texture maps). Also would it need to be in obj format?

I would love to try, but alas I don't think I am good enough yet, so I don't want to waste your time. But I could texture this for you, and yes, it does need to be in object format for those who can do this for you. Sharen PS: he is cute as a bug in a rug though

what format is he in?

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea..........SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS! Absorbent and porous and yellow is he...........SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS! Ohhhh please please someone do it. I would love to take a try at texturing. All that is missing is the holes (Can you tell I am a fan, and with no kids to blame it on either!)

TalmidBen ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:00 PM

Oh no. Not Spongebob Squarepants! I went to Wal-Mart and played his Playstation game. His game has to be the worst game ever created, next to ET for the Atari 2600. Of course, there may have also been an issue with the dual control sticks being torn off, when I played it.

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:04 PM

WOW lots of replies!! SAMS3D: Sure go ahead and texture it :) Dominique: He is in Rhino 3dm format now but I can export to 3ds obj or whatever is needed. Levely Lady: You can texture it also if you want... this is an old pic but I did put the sponge holes in it and he has freckles on the cheek too... I am guessing for it to be textured it need to be just a single piece. Right now he is in a zillion parts(where the colors change).

Here is a Rhino pic of the newer one with the holes.

Since I am not a modeler, I am not sure about the parts. Whoever whats to make it poseable might tell you what to join for body parts.

EricTorstenson ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:13 PM

Man, there is a guy who sings that song as he walks down the hall each couple of hours at work(on his way for a cigarette, I guess). I had been told it was a canadian kids show, but had no idea what it might have been (never actually paid attention to the the fact it was "Sponge" Bob). Oh well, now I have a slight clue what is going on with kids these days (got none of my own, so 70s sesame street songs are about the only one's I would recognize). eric

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:19 PM

actually I've only watched the show a couple of times but some people at work talk about it all the time so I told them I would make a model of him :)

Phil do you want obj format? make it one solid piece?? what about file size?

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:54 PM

the reason I ask about the # of pieces is that right now each leg is about 6 parts the eyes are in 3 parts and the pants are probably about 10 parts...

Impudicus Rex ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 8:56 PM

ET for the Atari 2600? Eghads that was unbelievably awful. Not so much rumour, but a really good source (I think it was Wired Magazine), reports that Atari dumped those foul cartridges into a landfill by the truck-load.

I feel like I'm missing something here....... who in the world is SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS?

Don't forget his best friend Patrick the starfish.

wyrwulf ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 9:28 PM

And his neighbor/co-worker, Squidward!! It's a cartoon on Nickelodeon.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 9:31 PM

EGM (Electronic Gaming Magazine) rated this the worst game of all time (I think it was EGM). You're right about the cartridges being dumped in a landfill. About 5 million of them! Its funny you knew about that.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 9:34 PM

What's even funnier is that I have one of the cartridges that wasn't dumped. And don't forget Spongebob's pet, Gary the meowing snail.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 9:44 PM

Dnt forget Sandy the squerrel, Mr Crabs at the Krabby Patty.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Mon, 18 February 2002 at 9:51 PM

Bwaahahaha, are you serious LD?! lol. I remember the Atari 2600. Such a long way away from the Playstation 2, XBox and Gamecube. . . there I go again, derailing someone's thread.

PhilC ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2002 at 4:02 AM

Probably best if I see what you have got as it now stands. Yes OBJ format please. How big is the OBJ file/number of polygons/ZIP file size? Is it too big to email?

My kids are long grown up so I have to admit that I'm unfamiliar with this character, his phrases and friends. I do however feel that the same sentiments carry over from one generation to another even though the names and words change. If I were to refer to "the biggest spotted dog you ever did see" would any of you know who I was referring to?

Wow the bassist in my band is a HUGE spongebob fan,he has a giant one in his room,a keychain that is really spongy and he watches the show every day.If you manage making this work in poser I think he might actually try to learn poser! The model is way acurate by btw.Good job!

I LOVE Spongebob!! (I'm only 44) Favorite quote: Songebob: Wow! How much fun was THAT?? Sandy Cheeks: Almost some! If nautical nonsense be somethin' you wish, Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish! Seriously though, that's a wonderful likeness! Only two small suggestions if it's not too much hassle: make the grooves on his edges less prominent and symmetrical. And his pants really should be square! Good texturing could go a long way toward making him perfect. I'd like to take a whack at that one! Please do Patrick too! I included a link for the clueless.

judith ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2002 at 3:06 PM

Phil, I have no idea about the spotted dog, perhaps that's a reference out of my 44 Y.O. pool of pop knowledge. But when you're done, my 12 year old daughter would kill for a Spongebob charcater. Nice work Wadus! Kupa
