Subject: Carrara Tutorial

Just starting to learn Carrara and trying to follow the tutorial book. Bugs galore in the book. I am trying to make the building, and have followed the book exactly, several times. I get stuck at the step on page 41, after duplicating and scaling I can't select an edge in the top view to "fix the corners". Is it me or the book? Question 2: I have several objects making up a larger object. I have selected and grouped 3 of them. Can I make the group into a single object? Thanks for the help.

Never mind the second question. I just found it in the big manual. Boolean join, two at a time. I haven't tried the first one again, yet.

Hi wyrwulf! I havent done any of the tutorials in the manual. But, I have heard there are a lot of umm lets say miss prints as far as the tutorials go. I looked at the tutorial and it says to drag to line to the upper left. Looks like it should be dragged to the left rather than upper left. But you cant select the line. Hmmm...You should be able to just click the line with the selection tool and it should become highlighted. Maybe try this, Select the vertex then hold shift and select the other vertex .. this should select the line in between the two selected verticies. Does that work so that you can move the line to the left? If not maybe select a single vertex and move it to the left then select the other vertex and move it to the left so that the line becomes straight. Let me know. Clint

I can't select a single edge or vertex. I click on any part of the second (duplicate) object, and it selects the whole polygon. I will just have to be patient and play some more.

I just found the answer, but haven't tried it yet. The tutorial is wrong. The work around is on the Meta personalized help site. Going to go offline and give it another try.
