Subject: camera focal lengths

I was just wondering...what kind of focal lengths do you all use when doing 'head shots'? Mine don't even come close to the detail that I've seen done. Any and all help in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated! s

I use 120mm for head shots, 95mm for three quarters. For roughly the same as a human eye, go to 50-55mm.

raven's suggestions are good ones. The default Poser focal length (35 mm) should be avoided for head shots since the face will look distorted. 35 mm works best for complete scenes or landscapes.

Your use of the word "detail" makes me wonder if your real difficulty isn't actually with map sizes. Focal length will affect forced perspective, but not the level of image detail.
