ah..those are the kinda seats that i like....old and worn out...makes it most comfy that way....but ya know what michelle...that post up there would like nice in a gallery...i'd stare at it for a while if I saw it...hell...have someone aged sit in it, smoking a cigarette...man ages with furniture....
These are brilliant Michelle, the character of that seat really comes through...and the way you framed and arranged the photos is really visually effective. I especially love the way you've put the "winged" arms of the seat on either side of that wonderful middle photo. Great work! (and thanks for the compliment)
Great arrangement & I really like all the different aspects you have illustrated, the top one is a great shot. I really like images of empty seats so much for the imagination & they often look so poignant., don't put anyone in it!!!

Beautiful compilation of different compositions of the same subject matter... I liked this work a lot... :) I've been thinking for a while about whether a diptych, tryptich, quadriptych, or whatever-yptich works would be allowed in monthly competitions... If so, this work for example would make a perfect sampler of textures from the same subject...
I love this!!! Y'know what gets me? The background - the way the paintwork and carpets look as aged as the chair itself - your presentation of this is absolutely fantastic, and the perspective of that first shot....wow.... Hell, I could stare at this for AGES.... Oh, and please, no-one there - my imagination wants to run through the life of the chair - children playing on it when it was new, a mother reading to a child, teenagers huddled together watching a late night movie, a middle aged parent watching tv in peace coz the kids have grown up and left home, and old woman knitting clothes for grandchildren in the firelight and finally left alone in a flat.... (gee, that's the most poignant I've been in YEARS!!!) Thank you, thank you, thank you.... (",)
Wow....such positive responses on this. You don't know what a big smile I have on my face.... This chair does belong to a gentleman who is in his 80's but now lives in assisted living home in California. His wife passed away about 3 years ago. I have access to his home because I work for his daughter the dentist. Her office is located downstairs on the first floor of this two family home. There are treasures in this house....the picture of the sink with those taps is an example. If you remember that one. I don't think I would be able to find a willing participant to sit it that chair....it's been out on the porch for at least 8 years now and the dust that would pop up would kill a person. I took these at lunch time yesterday....my co-workers think I'm nuts....one of the girls caught me yesterday in the tub trying to get some shots of the original taps. Hehe! You should've seen the look on her face. Those didn't come out so well, so I'll be trying again when the lighting is better. Thanks to all of you!
