Well, I was going *somewhere* with this scene, but after getting (almost) all the materials and the lighting the way I wanted them, I kinda lost interest. :P So, this is no longer a WIP (Work In Progress), but I suppose it's gonna be a "WIS" (Work In Suspension)... How about the rest of you? If you're anything like me, I know y'all have to have a bunch of .VUE scene files sitting around that you never finished, but don't have the heart to delete. I know I do. How about a quickie render so we can see what we otherwise won't ever get to see. :) I call this one, *Aborted Swamp*......

Actually, not many, but some of them, althogh never developed, became the source for a completely new scene, in which I used part of the logic... But it looks kinda cool there.. You can see the swamp leading to the sea... Reminds me of Florida... :)

Most (1200+) of the files in my landscapes/scenes folder seem to be "what if's", ranging back from early early V2 to the very few pics I actually rendered in VUE4.* I keep them around as a reference on how I got a specific result or more often on how not. :)

I think it looks nice, is that the ocean in the background? Sharen

OK then, here are some W.I.P., W.I.S. and R.I.P. images.

Wow Eric, that's some good stuff that you "throw out", especially the train and the upper right one. Sharen, no that's just sky in the background. I think you got the idea from Paul saying it went out to the ocean. But now that I think about it, it does kind of look like a few places in Florida I've seen near the Intercoastal Waterway. I wish I had a good variety of various palm plants and I could complete the effect.

Oh, that's the sky... Oh well.. But I think it has potential...

Hey Eric, those are some nice ideas there... :)

Almost everything I do is an aborted WIP. Here's one I was doing for my granddaughter. I didn't like the ground mist and couldn't think of the right caption, so I quit working on it. The caption was supposed to be something like, "No, you can't keep it! You put that thing right back where you found it." Or something like that.

LOL! You oughta continue with that one Jackson, great idea!

Oh my, like Hein, I've got zillions of WIS files. Here's one I began in Vue v.2. I was learning about Booleans and image objects. Some day, maybe I'll return to this and finish it off. Who knows? That's why I hang onto it. Eric, your two on the right, I'd remove the statue and use 'em as scenery shots. Great lighting. Jackson, lol! "I don't care if it followed you home, we're *not* keeping it!"

Jackson ( ) posted Fri, 22 February 2002 at 2:50 PM

Thanks Mike but I could never get it looking the way I wanted. Varian: Heh! I'd thought of that one, too only mine was more wordy, which is why I didn't like it. I like yours better. Don't know why I didn't think of it.

Noticed that a lot of times the old versions render entirely different in V4 so I end up rebuilding them. So unless I keep V2-3 installed I could free up a Gb or more of HDD space. :) This image I haven't reopened yet in V4, the volumetric should make a difference in the light here and ofcourse the blues in the orb.
