Subject: How was this metalic figure made?

There's a great new year 2000 calender posted in the renderotica gallery (In my opinion it should have been in the regular gallery). that I was wondering about. Anyone know how you can create the metalic look seen in it? The link to it should be in this message. Is there more to a figure like this than just adding a silver reflection map to the blue skin color/texture? Is there a tutorial out there on designing your own reflection maps? And making metalic ones?

Yes I know of those two maps. But I also noticed that there's a lot more going on in this figure than just those. For instance notice how there are building shapes reflecting off her metalic skin. And the smooth glow around her is something I don't know how to achieve. I'd love to see tutorials on doing these various effects. As well as one on making reflection maps of one's own. I assume that's how the buildings got reflected on her skin.

The reflective properties were probably created in a raytracer like Bryce, Raydream or 3DS Max.

Can be done post production with the KPT-5 Shape Shifter filter. Although it can be done in Bryce it's a real pain because the reflective texture becomes to "busy" from a multitude of enviromental reflections. Christine

You could make a previous render of the scene (better from an opposite camera angle and with a very wide lens) and use it as a reflection map. I think the P4 manual explains how reflection maps work.
