Subject: Depth cue leaving me in the dark... help!

Are there any controls to the depth cue other than the distance of the camera from the figure? I like to use longer lenses and my renders are picking up too much of the bacground color and really messing things up. The documentation on the feature leaves a lot to be desired. Has anyone had any luck with controlling this feature? Visque

To my knowledge there is no control over the feature .. wish there was although I have had some luck with doing two renders, one with it on and one without it on, then combine them in photoshop ... Good luck

hi, I think the size of the ground plane also makes a difference, but it's a pain to adjust it.

It coulda been the one by that Nance guy http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=45204 With regard to controling the Depth Cueing, it is not calculated by the distance from the camera, but rather from the nearest object in the scene to the farthest object in the scene. This allows you to control the DC a little bit by placing hidden objects in the scene to affect this distance calculation. Place an invisible box in the background and continue to move it farther back from the camera until your foreground objects render with the desired opacity. Not great, but a little flexibility.

I use the depth cueing a lot in my images. I have found that if you use enough light (Brightness) you can control how the background and the foreground work with the figures. also the color of the lights and postion of them helps. hope this helps. skee

Thanks to all of you for your input. I have found that Nance's suggestion to be the most useful. Hopefully I'll convince myself to post something soon. Thanks again, Visque
