Subject: Texture Template for LoRes figures?

leather-guy ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 5:01 PM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 4:48 PM

I was doing a torture-test last night, trying to see how much I could cram into a fantasy scene. I put off inserting the human figures til last, knowing they would slow down loading of everything after, and I was couldn't help noticing how llllooooonnnnnggggg it took for each successive figure to load. the last one before I had to shut it down took 8 minutes just to load into the scene, and I really wanted another 8-12 figures at least! I use the Poser 4 Lo-Rees figures a lot for setup, testing, etc. It's a lot faster and easier on resources to pre-set the characters in a scene using the Lo-Res Figs in rough poses, then "swap" them out for the needed characters for fine-tuning & the final setup prior to render. Does anyone know if there are texture-templates for these figures? I couldn't find any on the Poser Disks. A few basic textures with uniforms, armors, street clothes, etc. for these would make crowd scenes & battle scenes much faster, and make good background figures. I suppose I could make templates from UVMapperPro, but that'd have to wait until I can buy it. Any help appreciated :-)

You can use the free version of UVmapper. The download is on the same site. www.uvmapper.com

Actually it turned out to be dead-simple. Hope I can get some time in the next couple of days to play with it.

Pretty busy scene!! Looks quite neat even without rendering. -LW

Ooops; I must be more tired than I thought. I'll try again, & delete the last one, to cut down on loading time. Composition is lousey, lighting iffy, but I'm pleased with how far I could "torture" poser without crashing. By the way, the Citadel is from lordswarrior's new UltimateCastle set (Beta Version), the Dragon is the Ultimate Dragon free prop, Monks, wagon, and a lot of other items are various imported meshes from Baument, 3D Cafe, etc. Trees from Virtual Forest Figures from P4, RMW-Knight, the Chromeknight, one of Deimos' Character Paks, and several items from freestuff and the Dark Ages Kit. (Whew! hard to keep track - my apologies to anyone I forgot to mention specifically!)

"Dragon is the Ultimate Dragon free prop" Isn't the UD a purchase product?

leather-guy ( ) posted Thu, 28 February 2002 at 5:54 PM

THe UD is commercial, "Ultimate Dragon free prop" is a free download - one of 2 free, static meshes I D/L from the Ultimate Dragon site. I used the prop because it uses less memory than a full dragon character, and it looks cool!
