If this moron wins it... Renderosity will be the joke of the digital art world... I don't care how many friends he phones to sign up and vote for him... it's disgrace... and insults the artists here... he has a right to post his images..but artist of the month like gevidel...hobbit..syyd...? what a joke...

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 7:29 PM

oh and read the comments below about what is art.. and defending this crap as art....give me a break...if that was the case I just created a masterpiece this moring to bad I had to flush the toilet... this bull of calling anything art is just ignorant people.... and think we have way to many children on renderosity now...

Direct personal attacks are a violation of the terms of service, you know. You have the right to dislike anything you wish. You have the right to not consider it art. You have the right to not look at it. You have the right to leave the site. You do not have the right to dictate what is and is not acceptable conduct or content of the site. Insulting menbers and administrators at random is not considered an effective means of gaining sympathy for one's point of view.

I have been a member here for 2 years don't think I need your opinion... and if anyone wants to kick me off that's fine...just erase my galleries... I have had enough work stolen.... plus... not sure what the direct personal attack was... did I name the moron...?

Perhaps it's time for the final voting to be taken out of the hands of the community. I believe in the sanctity of artist of the month as much as Jan-Michael. This is my solution. We still allow the members to nominate artists and then have a respected member of the graphics community, at large, not just at Renderosity, judge the nominated artists collective works. The final judge should not be a member of Renderosity at all. Works should be judge on creative development of the artist, originality of images and overall use of techniques. This should put an end to any comments about vote rigging and bring integrity back to the award of AOM. Please just don't let Bill Fleming be a judge. There are greater issues with regards to the community at large when it comes to Bill.

Forgive me, I mised the part of your post saying "by the way, I was't talking to you..." It is a public forum. It was an inderect slam, I'll give you that. So I assume that means it applies equally to all of the AOM candidates. I didn't realise there were so many bad artists here...

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:21 PM

Micheleh ...whatever works for you... LOL And it's a public board open to the whole digital art community... I am sure they are watching....:)

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:22 PM

What a BAD IDEA Angel Michael!!! Too much has already been taken out of the hands of the community already. Now you want to lose a shred of what is left to us?

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:34 PM

Watching what? Someone has been nominated as AOM, and the sole reason many object is that they believe that his subject matter is maliciously provocative, and that his supporters do so solely to cause harm. As opinions go, that is no worse than many. However, the administration is capable of handling violations to the TOS. This more closely resembles an attempted lynching. Offense by art is as old as art. There are certain symbols and ideas which some hold "sacred" that they believe are being abused. However, does anyone have the right to deny anyone expression because they don't like it? I have always thought that when people are so vastly angered by satirical representation, that it shows ther own lack of conviction. I too have certain beliefs. If I see a work mocking them, I consider the source and move on. Someone else's interpretation can only be harmful to me if I let it. Why don't you just come out and say Legume? I'm sure he won't care, he seems to be pretty confident in his outlook.

On the whole the community has shown either a real lack of interest or a distaste for the whole event. Artist of the Month and the Hot 20 has and always will be a constant sticking point for many members, with accusations flying. The only way to stop the comments is to remove the source, however I don't believe in removing what is essentially a good idea, this is why I made my suggestion. In the beginning all we really had here was a place to post our freebies and our images. I'm not saying take away AOM at all, I'm saying take the final judgement out of the hands of the masses and give it to a professional. This can work two ways, the first thing it will do is remove the element that believe it is a rigged contest and secondly by exposing the community to more professional input gives artists here a greater opportunity to be discovered. If the later is a bad thing then I don't know why the truly talented come here. We, as a community, still have so many more avenues to have our say here. Sometimes you need to step back to move forward.

I have 2 businesses...One, that I go to everyday, and, my "home based" high end graphic business. To be honest, MARKETING is more important than my artistic ability. I am in sync with you that this person does not deserve to be AOM....However, he does deserve to be marketer of the year. He set out to show the fallacies with the renderosity system with the galleries, the hot twenty, and, even comments in forums...(farewell, my beloved c&d). He has done an excellent job of showing that the "system" here, just is not fair. Yes, some of his stuff is offensive....I don't like seeing the title of "Vicki's Stinky Pussy" in the 20. But, enough people were convinced to vote for this one, and, all the others, to ensure it a prominent spot. And, that Albert Fish render? Hello....that was some kind of act of torture, imho, (against tos)as Fish was snacking on the bumblaster of a minor. AOM...no, I think not. Would I hire him? IN A HEARTBEAT. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!! I voted for the aom that I think has the most talent. I wish that "The Doctor" would tell the general public where to get the armadillo.

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:44 PM

Angel Michael... maybe a good idea.... :) Mehndi "out of the hands of the community" ? think there are times that the OWNERS of this board call the shots... until the COMMUNITY starts paying... we are guests here... and the reason it is FREE is because of the popularity of the board... this idea it's our board and we call the shots... yikes... !!!!! hey when they have to charge $20.00 a month to be a member yep then it's our board...

Legume ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:50 PM

Thank goodness! I'd feel really bad if it was about the OTHER people in the running for AOM. After all, it'd be really rude and hurtful to say something like that about REAL people.

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:51 PM

I think many people forget one of Legume's more objectionable traits. He has a habit of threatening and insulting people publicly whenever anyone opposes him. Legume has also been caught saying "f*ck you" in an Instant Message when he was mad at someone. Micheleh, is it ok for Legume to violate TOS, but not those who oppose him?! I don't think so. The Hot20 has already been destroyed thanks to Legume and his supporters. Shall we go ahead and destroy Artist Of the Month? I think it's already been tarnished by Legume's efforts. If Legume doesn't win, I'm sure the winner will be harassed to no end.

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:51 PM

Micheleh ... I don't care about the subject matter myself... to be honest haven't looked at much of it... I said it was CRAP..I meant that from a digital perspective.. very poorly worked and lacking any artists merit... the subject matter means nothing to me.. If this was a highly skilled artist making the same comments in an artistic and skilled way... hell I would not even be commenting right now... I find the work offensive in that it lacks ability....

Legume ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:12 PM

I CHALLENGE you to show me where I've threatened ANYONE. You're SLANDERING me now. You are a LIAR. And I sent someone an IM saying "fuck you" because to me that's the only response to someone publically calling me a RETARD.

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:19 PM

But Legume... he got a recation out of you so maybe his comment was literately artistic... works for me... :)

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:21 PM

Of course, now we'll get another round of "look what kind of trouble that Legume is causing", when it isn't you at all. It's the people who think they have to scream themselves blue because they've been "offended", and immediately go on a holy crusade.

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:25 PM

Cool, I like that. You're a moron, JM, artistically commenting.

Jan-Michael ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:30 PM

Micheleh ... not bright... you mentioned the moron you were talking about by name ... can you say TOS... :)

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 9:35 PM

Legume, my deluded friend, don't you think your words are an insult, slander, or violation of TOS: "I CHALLENGE you to show me where I've threatened ANYONE. You're SLANDERING me now. You are a LIAR. And I sent someone an IM saying "fuck you" because to me that's the only response to someone publically calling me a RETARD. " Gosh, you are showing your true colors.

Listen, I'm only going to say this once before the warnings go out.

Everyone, no more personal attacks.
