Once upon a time, far, far away in Tibet - there lived a buddhist monk who was so determined to serve his convent that he had asked to be able to do so, - even after his death. He repeated his wish on his death bed, and his brothers promised to fulfill his wish. So the holy man was embalmed, and his body was put up ouside the convent, - by the gate. The other monks made sure that he always had a candle in his hands, - and the candle was lit every night, - to show the visitors the right way.

I always find it a bit difficult in semi-dark rooms if I should use flash light or not. In this picture I didn't. In the above, I did. Both are Photoshopped, but not much. In the upper one, I added a gradient to the bars. In this one I just added a picture I've taken in Amsterdam... from a Buddhist festival. Opinions welcome. Britt

Good stuff Britt! I think the pic without the flash is more effective, seems more sombre, more in the mood of the subject matter. Interesting juxtaposition with the very "alive" shots of the festival...I think you might need to crop the bottom of the pic a bit though... Oh and did I say JUXTAPOSITION? I think I did, looks like I know what to go for for next months theme... :-)>

I like #2. Not real sure I understand what a juxtaposition is...

Britt you're making me want to go to a Ripply's museum again! :D I really liked the 2nd one too -- the light in the candle flame looks cool in it.

:) Maygen... you SHOULD go! :) And don't forget to bring your camera! Alpha... I know... but the room was PIT dark, - and what do you do with a digital cam. g hey... see. I DID take another one without flash. Seriously... in my former life with a "real" cam, - I was very careful with flash light. And would never use it unless I could steer the flash in other directions than my object. Unfortunately, most digital cam's don't give you that luxury of choice. Britt

PS... whed you DO work with a dig. camera... USE the luxery that you DO have, - the possibility to take a LOT of shots! ;) Britt
