Subject: P4NW feet mapping

purplehayes ( ) posted Thu, 28 February 2002 at 9:28 PM · edited Mon, 06 January 2025 at 6:11 AM

I was beginning to work on an image based on original airbrush art and I just tripped over that the other day, so it makes for a question: how to get a different color/bump map under the feet of the P4NW ? I'm quite new to 3D, if you want to know. My reason to ask: I know my model will have this surface showing on both feet, and the toes will be curled, so it calls for some more details I could add with bump mapping. Also, I'd like to modify the current P4NW texture to make here a true black woman (with the palmar and plantar surfaces being pink, not brown). Please, no suggestion of workaround like: put shoes on her ! Thanks in advance for answering. Purplehayes

You would have to undertake a remapping of the base OBJ file to do this.

There's a free program called UVMapper that can help.

Remember not to overwrite the original OBJ in the process.

use vicki textures on her... try out the free remap of her P4Vskin available at 3-darena.com - there's a commercial version which is probably neater on closer details like toes (i don't know for sure, i don't have it) if that's what you require, it's in the store here named Posavic.

a sweet disorder in the dress kindles in clothes a wantoness,

Done that recently. Steps are: 1) Locate P4NudeWom.obj in the poser directory tree, copy this to a dir you create yourself (can also be created under Geometries dir). 2) In poser set up the P4 nude woman and save and quit poser. 3) edit the pz3 file with a text editor and replace the two references to the original P4NudeWom.obj to your copied obj 4) Remap the obj with UVMapper. Post linked above gives all doc you need. Specific UVMapper steps for remapping the feet: - select the feet - Edit -> new UVMap -> Planar (Y-axis, horizontal) should split upper and lower part - select lower part and invert horizontaly (Ctrl-x) (to prevent to paint on the top of the soles giving a mirror effect) Good Luck!

Hello everyone, a quick reply... Thank you sooo much for your advice...I'm not quite sure about the trick I'll use yet, but I'll tell you later. I have UVmapper and I use it when I can, but the way to get to the surface I wanted to edit was quite arcane. Thanks Jeff and gstorme. As for April, I have d/lded the P4V skin about a month ago from the freestuff, the option to use a vicky tex was considered, but technically, the other way around is a greater challenge (the image is the ultimate goal, but learning more on Poser can't be beat). And BTW, thanks a great lot for such a useful tool as "the skin" (I had bad mapping problems with it the first times I used it until I found I did not convert it correctly in Maconverter...most of the times the problem is sitting in the front of the 'puter... :-))) ) Thank you so much all...
