Subject: woo-hoo! PAYDAY!

Penguinisto ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 8:47 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 11:42 AM

Heh - only get paid once a month, and I've got a bit o' extra this go 'round :) I've already ran off and paid for a PWFW subscription, got the Mil kids, and UV Mapper is gonna be next - I'll wait until April to get Mike. Sheesh - after racking up $300.00 or more in poser stuff from here, DAZ, etc etc etc etc over the past month... I think I finally have enough stuff to do some work with :) /P

Penguinisto ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 8:49 AM

Umm, okay - I just got done reading what I wrote. I'm a sick and twisted addict. Damn... hope the wife never totals all this stuff up (I've got to take her to Vegas for her birthday next weekend anyhoo - it's only a 6-hour drive from here. :) /P

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 9:00 AM

I never total my amount spent, I think I would scare myself, and definately Mike would go Ouch. Sharen

Penguinisto ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 9:23 AM

I'm cruising through PWFW now... All I can say is, I'm gonna need one HELL of a big ol' stack of blank CD's to back this all up on. /P

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 9:32 AM

Hummm, if my husband saw how much I've spent here and everywhere else he would be in the ICU. lol Marque

lalverson ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 10:02 AM

Renderosity store -$3000 Zygote/DAZ- $1200 Bbay- $500 Commune- $250 other sites or direct from vendor- $800

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 10:08 AM

You've spent $3000 at the renderosity store? I need to add mine up...now I'm curious...lol I know it's probably close though. I own just about everything Daz has put out, plus buying most of my Adobe and Macromedia stuffage online. Marque

juju-b ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 10:08 AM

Wow! Vegas.... I live here and all I ever do is live on my puter! Have fun anyway.... there are a lot of new casinos here. Maybe you can win some money to spend on poser stuff ;-)

MadYuri ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 10:44 AM

@lalverson Phew, you got me worried, but I spent less then half that money for Poser stuff. ;)

Patricia ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 10:45 AM

Wow. I don't know how you all knew exactly what I needed to read first thing this AM, but I sure am grateful! Yesterday I finally succumbed and bought P4, Victoria, a bunch of poses, hair and assorted eyeballs!! (My husband's only comment was to ask if I'd ever heard the words, "Want some candy, little girl???"!) (Smartass! I'm not addicted! No way....but if BillyT made those killer clothes for Macs, well...then I might be in trouble.............

judith ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 11:01 AM

Heh, and I had the guts to ask 'vette for customer of the year award, when I hit $1200. No wonder she laughed at me ;)

Well I haven't spent all that much really, let's see... used copies of poser & bryce $250, about $250 at Daz, $35 for PW subscription. not to bad for 2 years. PS: to patricia, I'm not possitive, but isn't there a mac converter so that Mac people can use any PC poser item?

Kinouk ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 11:19 AM

Juju-b..me too. I live in Henderson. Like you I spend all my time on the computer. The only time I go downtown is to take people from out off town ;0

Traveler ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 11:23 AM

It's worse when you are a vendor. I swear I will never see a check from here, it all gets spent as instore credit. It's too easy because it's not real physical money, LOL. Click a button and it's gone :) Anyone want to start a poser-a-holics group? -Trav P.S. I refuse to add up what money I have spent on 3D, I don't want to know :)

lalverson ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 11:32 AM

Yep, a few hundred in sales has been pruchases. I didn't put that in the above post. if we do have a support group. we'd fail right off everytime billy-t releases something new

pendarian ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 11:36 AM

Oh geez....I don't want to know either. I just know it's a LOT!!! I do know that for a while I was spending an average of $200-$300 per month...my hubby was fit to be tied. Since I've tried to cut down I have a lot of sore spaces on my lips from biting them trying to practice some sort of self control LOL!!! All I know is my wish list is a mile long! Pendy

duanemoody ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 12:30 PM

Geez, and I thought the $780 I've spent so far was something to talk about. Since the wife cut off the credit cards I'm without Michael 2 or the Millennium boys, but I should learn my lesson before my next project is selling pencils out of a tin cup. Part of the reason I put Heline up for sale on 3DCommune was so that my hobby could start to pay for itself. I think I better move into modeling hair or clothes.

judith ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 12:31 PM

Mine too Pendy, that's really the only reason I became a merchant, was to offset some of the cost. Still spend way more that I make though. Poser's cheap, it's the add-ons that get ya :))) Poser-holics is probably the way to go, but I don't think I could bring myself to delete the MP, DAZ, B-Bay, VIP, and the countless other sites I frequent off my favorites list. In fact I know I couldn't, I'm in this for the long haul LOL!!! Until they pry my dying fingers from the keyboard.... or somthin' like that. ;)

This makes me feel so much better. (Though I am not sure my husband would agree that my Poser addiction is OK just because I am not the only one suffering from it!) Kimberly

pendarian ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 1:18 PM

LOL!! That is what I told my hubby...that it was all for the good of the country :) Unfortunately he didn't buy it, and went off muttering something about it all being a 'hobby'....guess I better edumacate him..... :)

chohole ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 1:19 PM

I am thinking about become a vendor, just to help finance my habit. Got used to spending around 2-300 per month, and then redundancy got in the way.

steveshanks ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 1:33 PM

Sure thing Traveler but only if its to help add to the adiction not save us from it LOL...i have no idea how much i spent but i bet i have most of DAZ's models and i know i have a load i've never even used ;o) soccer guy and old man for starters :o)....Steve

Traveler ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 2:29 PM

Ah, but as a vendor, you then will find yourself saying at one point or another "You know... I really could use (insert name of expensive graphics or 3d program here)..it will make my work easier or better" and the next thing you are doing is shelling out cash for Lightwave, LOL, just like me :) It's a sickness......yep

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 2:38 PM

You guys are funny! Now I see a 3D spiral in front of me and I just need to find me a good solid anchor to keep me from being sucked in. I've done around $450 getting started. Hadn't purchased anything else since Christmas until my wife gave me $100 coupon on Valentines day (which is gone). But, couldn't help but notice some similarities in the recent parts of the thread...you guys sound like someone hooked on smack and need to start dealing in order to make ends meet....grin. Anyway, I'm still successful in controling myself, but Victoria's essentials and essentials mappack is realy fighting hard! Can't help but think of "The Mask" where he says, "someBODY STOP Me!"

i do NOT want to know what i've spent on Poser toys! TOO MUCH... and i don't regret a moment of it! This is the most fun i've had in years. But i do know that Mike, Vic, and the rest of the crew live WAY better than i do! Jeepers--2 cars, 2 motorcycles, a helicopter, a Mansion House, and god knows what all to wear, not to mention various temples and follies on the grounds, and mermaids in the pools, and fairies everywhere. i even have a posable tuna. And it all fits in my computer! Pretty cool. But pssst---! Don't tell my partner! She thinks i make money from the store, and then wonders why i'm so poor... LOL

judith ( ) posted Fri, 01 March 2002 at 4:29 PM

Virtual Barbie and GI Joe (I refuse to even acknowldge Ken exists..... I always liked GI Joe better) dolls for grown ups, that's what it is, I have a friend that tells me that all the time. That's why we all feel like kids again, it's just so much fun!

I spent $50 at DAZ this afternoon alone (Anton's beard for Michael, Michael Lane's new hair for Michael, and Doug Sturk's Full-and-Feathered hair textures). No more bald Mike.

Welcome to the Beast, everyone.

Knock, knock, ahem is this PAA? Poser Addicts Anonymous? Hi, I am new here. Is this the right support group? This is my daily routine. 7:00 PM, home from work. Turn on computer, open browser (I have renderosity as the start page); scour the free section, then the marketplace, the galleries, then the forum.... go to bed at 1:00 AM... I think I have a problem (admission is the first sign to recovery)... Or is it? JV :o/

  1. We admit we are powerless over poser - that our lives had become en-meshed. 2. Come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore a coruptted download. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our wallets over to the care of Daz3D. 4. Made a searching and fearless material inventory of hard drives. 5. Admit to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of the problems we have with a program. 6. Were entirely ready to have others point out all errors in our images. 7. Humbly thank them for giving us free stuff. 8. Made a list of all persons who contributed, and are willing to give credit to them all. 9. Made direct improvements to such images wherever possible if we can, except when said improvement is beyond our understanding. 10. Continue to take personal computer inventory and when we are wrong promptly delete it. 11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our images, praying only for knowledge of tutorials and the ability to carry them out. 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to other poser addicts and to practice these principles in all our renders.

Poser does not have control over my life. I do not use my T1 connection at work to download and burn archives. I only download things from freestuff I actually know I need and will use in the immediate future. I spend more time posing and rendering than I do in the forums talking about it. Oh, and monkeys fly out of my butt.
