I am having some trouble with texturing some meshes to suit my needs. It seems I cannot import .obp files into U.V. Mapper(unless there is an update of which I am unaware) Is there some other mapper that works for .obp files?

UV mapper doesn't work with Bryce's .obp files. Only .obj ( wavefront ) a common file used by Poser and imported and exported by many 3D apps. I don't know of any other software that works with Bryce's .obp files in any way.
