Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 2:47 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
You will get that type of "error" if Poser has difficulty finding textures or geometry files that it requires for the scene or object or figure that it is loading. If you have the files that are required stored in the folders that Poser normally looks in, you will not get those types of errors. Something you can try. After you have "hit the 'oks'" and have you studio exactly the way you want it, [menu] "Save" the .pz3 file and Poser will remember where everything is next time you load it. [unless you have moved something in between Poser sessions] NAH!!! We'd NEVER do anything like that, ........ would we? cheers, dr geep ;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"
cheers,
dr geep ... :o]

heyas; no, it isn't looking for the geometry or the textures. i've seen this once before, it's like going through your startmenu and saying 'this.lnk' is a bad pointer, 'that.lnk' is a bad pointer, 'everything.lnk' is a bad pointer.... er, i'm sorry, tony, but i have no idea what i did to make it cut that out :/ check the poser.lnk start menu shortcut and see what its properties are. make sure it has a real startup directory. yeah, the memories are vaguely surfacing.... i think this happened after i had deleted the smegging 'my documents' directory, but before i had told my new poser install where its home base was.
Blood song tha tis it exactly I check it out I didn't think it was moving things I as a rule don't do that I am too lazy thanks even if this dosn't solve it. At least I am not crazy and that it is only me. I have enough trouble with the voices in my head telling me that :) it would be worse if I was hearing it in the forums TOO ;)

often, when I am loading a figure of larger size or med for that matter I get a short cut problem error it list things that I have loaded in my system as a bad link. now all I have to do is click (ok) but I might have to do this 20 or so times while it is looking for stuff. It seems to get worse the more props an people I add to my data base?? it would not be a huge proble but it halts till I hit the (ok)s. anybody else have this quirk??
