Subject: Steph texture conversion

ElectricAardvark ( ) posted Sat, 09 March 2002 at 12:04 PM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 10:04 AM

I will not be able to ge Steph until Mon. morning, However I have been working with the templates. And I will tell you this. Converting textures from Vic to Steph will be a snap. I have almost worked out a photoshop action for this to make it easier. But I need to wait till Mon to test it out.

That would be sooo wonderful!!!!

I started converting one (Daz Hi-Res vic) last night and dont see how you can think it will be a snap. I started by laying the Vic texture over the template to see how far off the body alignment is by default, it's way off. I cut the front body texture out and with the nipples lined up on the template as close as they can be, the arms, legs, thighs, and various other parts of the body require quite a bit of smudging or cloning to cover those parts of the template. Am I missing something you saw? Or do you plan on using a stretch in the action?

pendarian ( ) posted Sat, 09 March 2002 at 2:33 PM

Well, I hope that it is somewhat easy, because I have no intentions of buying yet another round of textures for a new model, if I was going to do that I would have purchased Dina months ago. My pocketbook is stretched to the nth degree as it is. That means if something can't be done (I can't make texures or I would already be working on it) I'll just put her on the shelf, cuz I just plain can't afford it. So, good luck to both of you :) Pendy

  1. What is a Photoshop 'action' and is it something that can be done in/with Paint Shop Pro 7??

Crescent ( ) posted Sat, 09 March 2002 at 9:27 PM

A Photoshop action is a series of commands in Photoshop. It's like a Word macro (though as far as I know it can't be turned into a virus.) ;-) There may be a utility out there to convert Photoshop actions to PSP, but I don't know. Even if you don't have the ability to use the actions, all is not lost. Some of the Vicki texture makers may host Stephanie conversions. If ElectricAardvark can make the action available, merchants could use it to make 2 sets of maps available - one Vicki, one Stephanie, and some merchants may offer free texture maps for Steph for customers who already bought the Vicki texture.

I use Photoshop Elements, and rather than "Actions," it uses "Recipes." I don't know if they're compatible or not. I've used regular Photoshop in the past, but could never figure out how to use actions. They completely confused me, so I gave up. I haven't figured out the recipes in Elements, yet, either. It would be great if the Vicki textures could be adapted for Stephanie. There are some great ones out there. Melanie

Electricaardvark, have you had any luck with this yet? I'm in the middle of porting the Yuma texture to Steph and I'm having some problems with seams and fits here and there. Pendy

Pendy, There is a little problem with the seams. For one, you really have to 'draw outside the lines' so to speak. Watch out for the back of the neck too. I almost missed that. Also the left side of the neck does the same thing as the back. I ended up using the clone tool more than I thought I would have too. The PS Action works ok, but only on the exact same size image, and conditions(ie:layers) I haven't figured out how to get it to work generically. Check out the post I just put up in Product showcase to see how it looks.

So it would be a good thing then if the texture were actually larger then the template in some instances? I'll go check out your post :) Thanks ElectricAardvark :) Pendy
