Subject: Stephanie vs. Victoria

creativechaos ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 5:16 AM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 2:59 PM

Ok, I've been reading the posts and checking out the images posted with Stephanie compared to Victoria and I'm still a little bit confused. I FINALLY got my taxes back (gotta love electronic filing) and know I have extra cash. While I've been working with Victoria a few times down at school, I want to have a high quality model for use at home. I like the price on Stephanie, but is she as good as Victoria is? Which would the more experienced users recoment for a first purchace? Is Stephanie a close "relative" of Victoria since she can use her clothes and hair styles? Is she as easy to work with, more limited in any way? Just a few questions before I run to DAZ tomorrow with the debit card.

Either is worth having. I like Victoria better than Stephanie, but IF the deal is still on for Michael where you get a voucher for Stephanie free, that seems a better choice for you - you get both a high quality male and female figure.

I would recommend getting Victoria2 at this time - there still so much more stuff for her (and IMHO she is a better female model than Stephanie) and - - - I think she is a must-have really :) Paula

If you are thinking of buying Victoria 2, I would suggest Michael 2 instead, purely for the fact that you not only get Mike, but before Mar 18 you will get Stephanie free. Traveler already has a large set of morphs available at Morphworld, and she can wear all of Victoria's clothes and hairs as well. For a texture, I'd have a look over at RuntimeDNA, reasonable price, nice look. Victoria 2 has the advantage of Victoria-to-P4 though, which is a Posette grouped and scaled Vicki, allowing the use of all Posettes clothing with the versatility of Victoria 2's head. Just my opinion though, hope it helps.

Stephanie is about as flexible as Victoria V1 at the moment. She isnt akin to Victoria 2 which is full of extra morphs. This will change rapidly. If you are prepared to wait then Stephanie will develop and grow with your own experience. She isnt as "feminine" as Victoria, a lot of her morphs are muscle-based, but this is only temporary. If you want Michael then it is the best value package (buy Mike 2 get Stephanie free). Victoria V1 is only $20, with no textures. The only downer is all the Victoria morphs dont work with Stephanie, she is Michael-based with Michaels geometry and texture maps. She will get remapped for the textures though. She has been set up so her limbs and body have the same joints as Victoria so the clothes fit. The choice really is between Stephanies potential, and Victorias established material and support. You have a difficult decision really, unless your tax rebate extends to both B)

>> She isn`t as "feminine" as Victoria

I think she's quite feminine, and a lot more versatile than Vicki. Her face is much more realistic, IMO .. check it out!

If I was in your position, I would buy Michael 2 before March 18 and get Stephanie free. Vicki is probably superior because of all the morphes included with her, but Stephanie is a great character too. I agree with dmtyler that she definately is feminine and with the right texture map, is a knockout! Good luck and have fun. :-)

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

Routledge ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 10:03 AM

Yeah, DM Tylers picture is beautiful, my comments are more about a lack of curvaceous bodyshape morphs, but have already been negated by Traveller`s downloads at Morph World, all of the body ones are "femimisers". Thanks Raven for the info.

Do the Michael2/Stephanie thing... she's a more androgynous (as she comes) shape than Vicki, but she's got Michaels muscle mojo going on... going to be good for weight lifter pics. She's Mikes' "sister," and a nice alternative to Vicki. But! i still adore my Victoria 2!

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 11:42 AM

I would get Mike now so you can get Stephanie free, then save for Vickie. That way you will have a male and female quality model for the price of one. Later you can get Vickie. I have all of them and I think Stephanie is a valuable addition to the family. I like the idea of her being Mike's sister nfredman, what a great way to put it! Explains the family resemblence. 8^) Seriously you won't go wrong with Steph, espcially since she only costs a few pennies. Also she's only been out a few days and look what's happening with her already! Marque

I got Stephanie for free with my Michael 2.0 package! I will use her with my other package for making pictures for my own RPG (Role Playing Game). My only problem is now to get a Poser 4 upgrade for a normal price. Seravajan

Definitely get Michael 2 and get Stephanie free. And she certainly is every bit as feminine as Vicki. LOL, I remember back when Vicki first appeared at DAZ, there were people who hated her and thought she looked like a man. Funny how opinions change with time. Here's an image I did with Stephanie. There's an echo in here...get Mike2 and get Stephanie as part of the deal! Mike2 is a GREAT model and you won't regret having him. You can pick up Vicki2 later on if you can't afford both right now. In the meantime, you'll have two high quality figures instead of just one. Once Stephnie reaches "stand alone" purchase status, I would say get Vicki2 first, then Mike2, then Stephanie. Why Stephanie and not Dina or some other model? Simple...Stephanie can wear Vicki's clothes "out of the box" so you aren't looking at a whole new wardrobe investment. Right now she needs Mike style texture maps which kinda sucks, but I don't think that will last long because someone will remap her to accept Vicki's.

Lyne ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 2:05 PM

One thing that I have not read yet, is how important it is to have Victoria 2 so you can get the Mil Kids and baby that are based on her!!! I do think Mike 2 is fantastic, so get him quick and get Stephanie free... if you can.. but with ALL the textures, and clothing that are available for Vicki, and the P4 woman (Vicki2 will use all items for the P4 woman and mil vicki, remember!!) Vicki is pretty useful!! Lyne

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

soulhuntre ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 2:53 PM

I am still a big Vicky fan. I think she is a "must have" as well, but I did make sure I update my Mike in tome to get Steph for free. She is a really good figure that give me a lot of extra options.

creativechaos ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 6:43 PM

Thanx for clearing that up guys. It's been a hard decision since I've seen so much done with Vicki 2 already. (Vicki 1 wasn't even an option for me really...) But I checked out Travelers morphs, and some of the Mike stuff and I do think I'm going to go that way, save a few extra bucks for a few other things that I'd like to have. Maybe splurge and pick up the stephanie textures since Mike is on sale right now. Maybe head over to Runtime DNA for the hair.
