Subject: Poser Problems

My Poser 4 seems to be on the fritz. I don't get a figure in the viewport. When I pass the mouse over the area, I can see white outlines of the body parts, but there is no tangible figure visible and nothing renders.

Is there something wrong with the program or did I screw something up along the way?

It sounds like the figure that you loaded does not have a corresponding .obj file. Does it start up like that, or does it only do that for a particular character, or all characters?

delete the RSR file for the P4Man in the Geometries folder and see if that helps.

In reply to skj77, Poser starts up with a blank viewport instead of the geek-dude who is normally there. But when I try to open ANY of the figures, they do load up because I can select body parts in the roll-down menu and I can select body parts in the render options menu, but nothing appears in the viewport and when I attempt to render, I get a memory error and the program shuts down.

ooooh. I have read about this before but I don't recall the fix. Try re-installing poser on top of your current installation.

Usually, when the "Memory Error" occurs is when the .obj file in the Geometries folder is missing or the path call in the cr2 file (i.e. "c:program files: metacreations: runtime: geometries: whosit.obj") points to the wrong place. Open the cr2 file in a text editor like wordpad and see if the .obj file indeed lies on that path. If not, either edit the cr2 file or relocate the .obj file to the corresponding path. I find it odd, tho, that you can select body parts after this happens. Are these "Kosher" poser files?

I'll try some of the suggestions posted. In answer to your question, Nuke, I'm not sure what you mean by Kosher?
