Subject: Help!!...Error when loading Steph.cr2 in MAT Pose Applier

gladiator ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 2:35 PM ยท edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 12:43 AM

If I try to load the Stephanie.cr2 in MAT Pose Applier the program hangs. The taskmanager indicates "program does not respond". The same happens with MAT Pose Edit. Is there maybe something wrong with the cr2?? And if so, what? FYI: I'm running on WinXP Pro, 512Mb RAM, Pentium III 800Mhz Please help

Ooops, forgot to mention MAT Pose Applier is version 2.2.1 and Mat Pose Edit 1.4.0. As far as I know the latest versions.

Yuppers, it doesn't recognize steph geometry. I guess/hope there will be an upgrade soon.

As a workaround I manually updated the database with the Stephanie materials. I tested it and it works. At least now I can get the program to work for Stephanie too.

I got around it with MAT Pose Edit by loading in Traveler's morp pack Version os Steph, don't know what the difference is but it worked like a charm :)

It will work, but it does take a lot of time. I had the same problem earlier this week, and I discovered if I let it sit loading for around 20 minutes, it would indeed load. The problem is that it is a large file and the program has to scan the whole file to get the materials. It only appears to hang, but in reality, it doesn't. If you don't want to wait that long, you can use Mike as the figure and the textures load up fine, at least they did for me. I also run XP, and the taskmanager would say the same thing. Little did I know, the taskmanager was fooled!

Thanks for your help. According to John Hoagland it is due to the filesize. So Jcleaver you're right about that. I was just to impatient and fooled by the taskmanger.

To help answer everyone's questions: Both Jcleaver and gladiator are correct about my MAT Pose Applier- when you import a figure, the program does "scan" the figure file for any materials. The "scanning" process was originally developed a number of months ago... before DAZ started releasing their super-huge cr2 files (such as Mike2 and Stephanie). So, even though the program appears to "hang", it is actually "scanning" away. Of course, the time it takes to complete the scanning will vary by the file's size and the speed and memory of your PC. (In some cases, if there isn't enough memory available, you could get a "out of memory" or "overflow" or "out of stack space" error.) I am in the process of investigating and developing a faster (and better) method of "scanning" files. As soon as I'm able to finish this, I'll release the next version of the program (which, as usual, will be free for everyone who purchased an earlier version). --John

Mine didn't hang, but it stopped and gave me an error. (I'm not at home now, so I can't tell you exactly what it was.) I have also gotten the error trying to load other cr2's such as a number of AsShanim's products. I will let you know the error when I get home and check it out. Was going to email you, but just never seem to have the time. I think off-hand it was some sort of out-of-string error, but that may be from something else, I'm not sure.
